I think what you are missing is the absense of the "Free for Life" part that was in the title of the thread.

Fixed - applied yesterday - now to call AMEX and get them to confirm in writing that I will receive the 60K bonus pts.

Yep that's my dilemma - cancelled Cent in March this year so now I hold no AMEX - still I will try them out - happy to have a crack at it if they confirm it via email.

If you ask they will just say no not able to get the points but actual experance in the past has been that the point have come through even while still holding another amex. (and yes amex not a bank issued amex) but this was done on a $0 fee card so no risk if they didnt come through

Not sure you can fix unless there is a different offer that what I have seen..

From what I have seen one card is free with 10K of points and no flight. A different Virgin card is $349 with higher points and the flight.

60K pts represents 64% of pts reqd for o/w J rdpt OZ-LAX - at that rate o/w rdpt would cost you ~$545 + ~$200 T axes = ~$745 o/w in J - IMCAC.

I hope those figures are correct - if they are I'll cop those rates any day of the week!

That is because that is not a referral link. Like with the Edge you earn more points at present if you take a card via referral link.
