The view or two from my "office"

re: The view from my "office"

With the arrival of SOT II, we have a "Full House" at Station Pier this morning. I'll try for a high point view later today.

As promised, I managed to get up on top of one of the high rises at Beacon Cove for this shot: L-R: Spirit Of Tasmania II, Pacific Jewel, Carnival Spirit, Pacific Pearl.

A bit Off Topic, but I know there are cruisers here on AFF that might find this of interest. Whilst up on top of one of the towers I noted a cruise ship in the Yarra. This is *very* unusual (in fact I can't remember seeing any since I moved here some 15 years ago).

Anyhow, it turns out that the Pacific Dawn had to berth at Victoria Dock because of construction at Webb Dock (when Station Pier is full, overflow ships usually dock at Webb Dock at the mouth of the Yarra). Checked online to find a departure of 4.00pm and made my way to Pier35 on Lorimer Street. Here I snapped Pacific Dawn making her way down the Yarra:

re: The view from my "office"

How are you finding it? I've heard such good things and never found the time to stay there.
I think it's a lovely hotel. Staff of course are excellent. It reminds me a bit of 1930s and high society. Our room (classic room) was tiny but beautifully appointed. I do so like the toilets here - that high tech stuff with he heated seat, auto raising seat, flushing etc. Could keep me amused for hours! :)

We had a coffee in the lounge which was pleasant though at $45 for the two coffees it needed to be. We also had a drink and snack time in one of the bars and that was great. The location was the main reason we picked it as we were arriving in the evening and also were catching the train to Kyoto. We were really pleased with the choice.
