Good evening just on flight radar and this aircraft has taken off and is now in a loop of the coast of Syd. Qantas A380

update looks like its returning to base, but that cant be right because of the amount of fuel it would have on board

QF only uses the QF6xx_ flight numbers for ferry or test flights.

I find FlightAware better than Flightradar24 as it's able to pick up the flight plan and display that instead whereas flight radar 24 relies on schedules and historical data to show destinations.

It's an orbit or a holding pattern. A loop would be in the vertical.... Sorry, just me being pedantic.

Of course it can. As long as the weight is below 391 tonnes, then it can land. As it was probably only about 315 tonnes when it took off, landing weight isn't an issue.

It's a training flight, getting the Captains who have been stood down for the last two years back into the air.

Dont know if Im reading FlightAware correctly but it looks like it did 4 similar exercises yesterday
