How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

There’s West Hotel Sydney, Curio collection.
Yes, speaking of…
Diamond status
Booked: king acacia room. Previously I’ve been upgraded to a Waratah (includes a complimentary mini bar, albeit one with things that you don’t want to drink), but this time just an upgrade to Banksia (free awful snacks).

I much prefer the West Hotel to the Hilton Sydney, despite their terrible choice of mini bar and snacks.

15 January, 2025 to 21 January, 2925 (6 nights)
Property: Conrad New York Downtown
Room booked: Deluxe Suite with Sofa Bed
Status: Diamond
Rate: HHonors reward 95,000 points per night
Received: Deluxe Suite with Sofa Bed with welcome card and the usual two bottles of water.

I stayed here with my kids and it was great as we got three beds (2 real beds and the sofa bed) so it ticked alot of boxes for us - was close to many of the ticketed attractions and a reasonable subway ride from the others which were mostly mid-town.

I hadn't stayed at a Hilton for a while. The included breakfasts have been replaced with a $US50 meal credit for in-room dining (excluding the mini-bar) or in the restaurant. Not surprisingly, the $US50 credit didn't touch the sides (especially when you get a small Coke for $US8). We used it on all but the last night.

Wasn't able to upgrade which would've been to a river view on the other side - they apparently didn't have any of my type of room on that side of the Hotel - I don't think any of us lost any sleep over it - though there's always a reason for upgrades to be declined - book the room you want and then you might be surprised with an upgrade is my philosophy. Status is no guarantee of anything I've found with both Hilton and Marriott.

Was able to plug in my Apple TV into the in-room TV so was able to stream Netflix, etc so was happy with that.

There's no EL which I recall from previously and the Gym was pretty puny (though not unlike other Hotel Gyms).

Overall was pretty happy - shame about the weak $A - prices outside the hotel all seemed reasonable as long as you don't convert back into $A. That's not Hilton's doing - just having a rant :)

I love the Conrad down town !!!
It’s my favorite place to stay. Unfortunately for my next trip to New York it is stratospheric pricing so I’ll be heading back to the Motto Chelsea instead.

They do have some big suites in there, have been upgraded a few times to one but from memory none had twin beds in the room.

Well it looks like Hilton have comped me Diamond again without me qualifying.

Thanks guys - much appreciated. I'd better book some travel
I spoke too soon - I drop down on the 31st March 😭

I did a day use stay at Hilton Sydney a few days ago following a cruise. It's come up as both a stay and a night for HHonors. Strange, I thought it didn't count, certainly not for nights.

Weirdly I didn't get a online check in option and even after checking in I couldn't use a digital key.

I didn't go into the lounge but I did see they have put quite a few tables and chairs outside for overflow.

Stayed in one of the new exec rooms at HSYD last night on L36 where the exec lounge used to be. The decor changed completely, feels like a different hotel. Timber floor much better than the old carpet and generally the room feels more premium. Sadly can’t say that about the new lounge on L1 which is small, noisy and has no windows. At least the food was decent.

Thanks for sharing photos of the new rooms where the old Exec Lounge used to be... That didn't take them long at all! I was back at this property last weekend, and the new lounge was again at full capacity, even on a Sunday night, and I was directed to sit outside in the 'overflow' area, so I didn't stay long in the end. It was however the first time in the past 6 stays I've been upgraded to a suite as a diamond member. Half expected something decent for a Sunday night anyway.

Property: Hilton Cologne
Room booked: Queen guest room
Status: Diamond
Rate: ~115eur advanced purchase
Received: King room with Cathedral view.

Well positioned hotel with friendly staff. No exec lounge so given three tokens to cash in at bar or small shop. Used to buy ~4eur worth of lollies/chocolates. Breakfast options were good. Be wary of using the good sauna facilities if unfamiliar with German culture🫣

Property: Next Melbourne
Room booked: Executive club king room
Status: Gold
Rate: 360 AUD
Received: Executive club one bedroom

Great location in the CBD. The executive lounge is fairly small and with quite limited options during the evening canapés. Breakfast was fine.

Nice surprise with the upgrade to a one-bedroom with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on. I also received a bottle of champagne as it was my birthday.

In all, a pleasant stay

Property: Parmelia Hilton Perth
Room booked: Kingston Hilton Delux
Status: Gold
Rate: 336 AUD
Received: King executive room

I had read a few good reviews of this property through the forum. I was fairly impressed with the level of service.

Really nice property. Fabulous room with a little present (chocolate). I also used the pool and gym and there were both well maintained.

I got there crazy early and they managed to check me in a few hours earlier which was appreciated. they had a great area to do some work. I requested a last minute late check out and they were able to do this.

The executive lounge had a very solid buffet option which was replenished often. Good beverage options.

I could definitely see that the hotel has some regulars for a good reason. I would certainly stay there again.

But if there was, would you really want to stay in any American “Executive Lounge”? 😳
Well when I had the time share at the Hilton on 6th the Club lounge was decent reasonable free alcohol self serve and quite passable snacks.
When in the lounge we met a few guests who had been upgraded to a Club room on the 36th/37th floors and had lounge access.

I would say those days are long gone.

Hilton Milan

Booked: refurbished twin room
Received: refurbished twin room (which somehow already looked dated)

This room was not cheap at €340/night, but the hotel felt a bit cheap. Next time I’ll stay at the Ibis because then I’m at least paying Ibis prices. The executive lounge was a miserable internal room off the breakfast area with some beers, Prosecco, wine, soft drinks and a few uninspiring snacks. Needless to say there weren’t many people in there. Breakfast was okay, but didn’t wow me. At least there was no coffee tax.

I don’t think it helped that the next night I stayed in the Conrad in Singapore, which has an incredible executive lounge and actually feels like a five star hotel.

Hilton Tangier, checking in as a diamond. Not sure if we were upgraded but there were four plates of snacks in the room as a welcome! Sweet, savoury, chocolates and fruit! Plus water. Exec lounge was on the ground floor, sort of an extension of the lobby. Range of drinks, including alcohol which was a nice treat after a dry week elsewhere. Food so so.

Free breakfast overlooking spain from the rooftop restaurant.

We had a car booked at 11am so asked if we could leave our bags in the room and drive back to pick them up. They asked what time we wanted a late checkout until… 3, 4 or 5!

Brilliant staff.

The one odd thing is that the hotel is concave in shape and with reflective metallic glass windows. Big warning signs that if you park in front of the hotel your car can get cooked! We were there for about 10 mins to pick up our bags and we had to walk through the band of reflected and concentrated rays to get from reception back to our car… it was burning!

Not happy generally with VA but getting diamond as a result of platinum has been the best perk of the lot!
