Virgin Priciest for Food?

Certainly looks like Virgin are the most expensive, passengers choice. Does Virgin say anything if you take a pizza on board with you? (like I have done in the US).

No body should charge for a basic element such as water.

Their methods and some of their info is wrong.
I am sure they have compared home brand Coles with name brand products on board.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you had to ditch fruit before entering WA and that you could buy your own bottle of water as their are not the lags restrictions that they have internationally

Compare with most 7-eleven/service station/convenience store prices and the on board prices are probably not too different.

Also, I believe that there may be free water facilities on board, but the airlines are not obliged to offer free water as such.

Bit of a no-news story that one.

Pack your own food or buy their food, Where's the issue?

i have found that DJ does NOT have a problem with pax bringing their own food / nibbles etc and non alcoholic drinks onboard for consumption inflight.
(although they are unable to cook/reheat/prepare your own food that you bring)

the menu is available online for those who have not seen it - Virgin Australia

But to be fair if no news are having a go at airlines, how about the rip off that is food options available at the actual airport food areas themselves.

They no longer charge for Tea/Coffee/Water on the Tasman, but only because NZ made them do this under there new agreement.

Should really be provided FOC on all services

The onboard prices are fairly similar to airport food prices. DJ don't care if you bring your own food & water onboard. Easy enough to domestically and even internationally ex-AUS. By far the worst country for BYO is Thailand as they take even water purchased within the secure part of the airport off you before you board, giving you absolutely no option except to be provided with whatever may or may not be available onboard. I don't even think there is a story here at all.

I don't think Virgin rely on ancillary revenue as much as other airlines do...

FWIW, the Liam commenting on the story down the bottom defending Virgin isn't me. I've already had one person think it was me!

And since when did Coles sell "Coffee". The sell instant coffee or various other varieties of no-water-used coffee, or iced coffee, but i've never seen a single Coles store sell a pre-made Coffee of anything other than the iced variety. NoNews. Classic.

Thread title is very misleading, most of the items are the same price across the board with JQ being dearer for water while DJ get pinged for my fav, the New Yorker!

The adding up of the total prices for onboard food makes very little sense. Because Tiger doesn't sell half the stuff means that N/A= 0. Giving it the lowest total?

Makes no sense to me.

Since when has NoNews let fact get in the way of a sensationalistic article? :P

You mean: Sandwich with meat (the table), or a simple sandwich (the graphic).

Don't get all fancy schmancy calling it a New Yorker

oz-mark you have a call on line 1, its an angry Luke Mangen, you forgot the coleslaw and swiss cheese
