Just overhead that as of 30 mins ago all QF flights to and from Fiji are cancelled.

QF not aware of exact circumstances whether it is weather or political. Might be both.

It was weather when flights were cancelled yesterday (and this morning), but I thought they were looking at returning to normal.

Seems its due to adverse weather conditions in Fiji ie flooding

There seemed to be a bit more to it based on the discussion I heard in the lounge...

As DJ also cancelled all flight over this weekend due to weather (as per the notice on the website) I'd say it is weather related, in the first instance.

It is purely weather related.

We are due to fly there Easter Sunday. To go from Nadi airport to Denarau Island actually requires a boat. (At the airport end)

The message I got from our Pacific Harbour resort is:
We are fine here but it is very bad in Sigatoka and further west, notably Nadi, Lautoka, Ba. Most guests are still with us and those that were foolhardy enough to leave this morning have been stuck on the road and we can only hope they found accommodation somewhere. The rainy season should end soon and so we hope that any disruption is short lived, although there has been a fair amount of damage to the road between Nadi and Sigatoka.

Yep weather. There's a tropical low over Fiji apparently. Glad im not there.

They don't cancel flights due to political unrest.

I went over then during the coup and the flights where just a bit empty all still running.

Why does Australia still happily trade with a military regime?

Why does Australia still happily trade with a military regime?

For political expediency. Just as Australia kowtows to China.

And travellers do go in droves because it's there!
