Scoot $118 to SIN in June

Just booked a quick weekend in SIN for the June Queens birthday long weekend, seat only, less than AUD 200 return ! Cheaper than flying interstate using QF/DJ...

Obviously this is a below cost fare because usually the taxes is more than that...

Look, worst come to worst if they fold SQ (their parent) will probably come to the rescue, which is not a bad thing. :mrgreen:

Now I need to think of what I am going to do there... any ideas ?

I think they'll be a typical LCC overall, for some thats all they need to know. But the prices are good and with Singapore backing I'm reasonably comfortable they'll have good engineering support and hence will have a comparatively good (for a LCC) on-time record.

What more is there to know? Well service I guess, as an LCC my expectations are low, but they are pitching as a fun place to work/fly with. I believe they see their own main competitor as Air Asia rather than Jetstar or Tiger so I'm expecting the overall experience to be pretty good for an LCC but frankly you shouldn't have high expectations of any LCC.

It costs $47 to leave Oz with 'departure tax', so that's applied one-way only.

No such thing of any magnitude out of Singapore.

seriously for AUD 200 return fare, you get half of that back through cost savings from duty free alcohol and smokes...

not to mention the luxury shops at Changi airport sometime have specials with huge discounts because they rather sell them cheap than ship them back to the warehouse.

they are now running run of site for A$111 for the same period....

note this website won't let you book the flight if your passport expiry is less then 6 months from expiry. Its a bit strange if you have a Thai passport and flying to Bangkok via Sin they wont let you book it. Is it an airline thing or a country requirement since you are in transit in Singapore? Is there anyway around it? what if i book it and lie about the passport expiry date will they deny boarding even if one is returning to their home country to renew their passport? also upon return to Australia can an Australian with dual citizenship travel on a foreign passport and show their Australian citizenship certificate or expired Australian passport to gain re-entry?

I actually didn't put in my passport details when I booked. It seemed to be optional and I didn't have it on me at the time anyway.

You have got to be joking, I recently caught a taxi from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and the fare was $120 plus tip, no water, no food, in fact the cabbie could hardly speak english and it was in a Prius which is worse than any Y class, review a flight at $120 what a laugh...
