Benefits of First Class (for those that don't drink)

I'm thinking of booking an award flight to Europe and the US next year. I am pretty easy going with dates (around June/July) and I have noticed that there are both Business and First class seats available. My dilemna is that I don't drink, so being served nice wines during a meal aren't a draw card (although the meal might be). I can't even set myself the challenge of consuming 8 bottles or more of champagne on a particular leg of the flight being a non-drinker.

So aside from the pyjamas that they'll offer (and if they don't have my size I'm likely to create a fuss and be asked to leave the plane), and maybe the chance to get a spa treatment or two in the lounges whilst I wait, are there (m)any benefits of First class? The flight still takes the same amount of time no matter which class you fly.

If you plan to fly with an airline that has suites then it is well worth it. You get excellent privacy, loads of space, and more comfort than in J.

Just because I 'acquired' over 60 pint glasses from pubs in the UK on my last trip doesn't mean I make a habit of taking things...

Actually I probably could give this 'challenge' a go. I used to try and take safety briefing cards from all the planes I flew on, or life vests

yikes lay off the safety cards and life vests, klepto! see how many times they restock the bathroom moisturer after you swipe it instead!

I don't think that promoting theft is an appropriate benefit of flying F, particularly when it comes to safety equipment. I hope I never sit in the seat you have just vacated with your 'souvenirs', especially if I need them in a hurry. I don't think that I have ever heard of such irresponsible and downright dangerous behaviour.

Unfortunately, I became unwell prior to boarding BA F SYD-LHR, December last year.

Without a doubt - I was soooo thankful I was traveling F as I basically slept the whole way, the service, the BED, the care shown by the FA's was First Class.......had very small bites to eat, nothing to drink & was so happy to be one of the first to reach the BKK lounge for what was very close to being the best shower I've ever had.

Upon landing in LHR I was feeling top notch and started to enjoy our 6 week holiday throughout Europe.

I'm happy to report that I made up for lost ground on the flight back......that was also F

The advantage for my wife and I is that going somewhere and coming home is actually part of the the holiday. Its not something you have to bare to get there.

As others have mentioned the F lounge access, on board the seat/bed and if QF the Tasting menu.

Like you I don't drink much (maybe 1 glass of wine if that).

I enjoy the food and service. In particular the way that F staff are able to bring me Coke Zero very rapidly in a nice glass with ice at 38,000 feet travelling at almost 1000kph!

If push came to shove, I suspect I could be persuaded to consume your measure of champagne to ensure you derived full value, albeit vicariously, from the product.

I'm with the masses here. Space, privacy, service, amenities, catering, lounge access (if one doesn't yet have it), premium check-in and fast track through security. Just makes the journey all the more enjoyable if you ask me.

I don't think you are alone.

I have been known to take "souvenirs" such as take salt and pepper containers, business class menus, unopened business class headsets etc.

I don't think they used the words stolen but something like that. I'll have to try dig them out and have a look.
