I returned from a return trip on QF in Dec PER- MIA< I posted a thread a few weeks ago stating that at on the LAX- MIA return with AA metal QF numbers had to pay for meals, i sent in two complaints to QF with NO reply finlally a PM to RED ROO who with in a week he got me a reply from QF a reply saying " my travel agent should have told me that there were NO meals on the LAX-MIA flights, " in other words passing the buck, my booking says MEALS and printed from QF web site and from 'MY BOOKINGS "and on QF printed paper. IMO QF are NOT being fair with there customers, I know this a trivial matter and easy for them to pass the buck to the agent but how long are they going to get away with these meals issues, this is not a money issue But PRINCIPAL.

Out of interest - have you contacted QF by phone. Airlines tend to find it easy to ignore emails as such.

QF will give you a cough response if you do it via e mail.

I would ring the call centre and then see what happens and then if not happy then either make a judgement call of your next step.

Also try contacting QF on Twitter. Not so easy to buck pass in such a public forum.

This thread does remind me that I experienced similar. QF my bookings show a QF flight on AA metal as including a meal, but obviously none provided.

I think the message to take home is don't expect anything in the way of food on AA if travelling in whY, irrespective of codeshare. I hardly think AA is going to parse out the codeshare passengers for meals when they don't normally serve them to anyone in whY.

Mind you, even if you had received a meal handed down from F or J on AA, you would not be excited :p.

Agree that AA don't do meals in coach, at best what could be bought is a snack, even the F/J meals are underwhelming.
Elites, including QF, generally get free drinks and pretzels in my experience.

Sounds like some issues in the paperwork you received from QF.

I think the real problem is not with QF but with the fact that the OP used a travel agent.

The question must be asked why would anyone use a travel agent these days . My expectation is if I use a TA (which I haven't for about the last 20 years) there will be a screw-up. Do it yourself and you have complete control - and no unmet expectations .

The only reason I used a agent was because i went through all the web sites and got the Best PE price and a agent better matched it.

I can't see why you would use a TA to price match what you've already found. You've done the work and they get the glory.

However, given you purchased the ticket through a TA shouldn't you complain through them? After all they have the responsibility to let you know what to expect on each flight rather than just relying on what the print out says.

They supposedly have the expertise to know what you should get on each flight. Or were they off centre as it were?

Have to agree with Hvr, the agent is the first point of contact, they made the arrangements and took your money. They are the people you had an agreement with, the airline is mearly the subcontractor.

It gets down to the fact that the AA designation for these flights is "For Purchase", while the QF codeshare indication for the very same flights is "Meal".

Please-some airlines serve meals to passengers in economy class and some do not. There are more important things in life to worry about. Please move on and put some energy into enjoying your trip to Miami-it is a destination with something for everybody!

bashing the agent for qf incorrectly coding the meal on their codeshare is a bit unfair.

Unfair or not, that's the chain.

if you buy a toaster and it doesn't work, or do you send it direct to the factory or take it back to the shop?

dazz81, we can assume you send it back to the factory?
