As this last trip is almost certainly going to be our one and only trip in this area we decided to do it in style. So it was Fairmonts in the Rockies.
First up was Banff.I decided to go for the Gold Floor which is a decent amount above the ordinary rates.
Big mistake.I had signed up for their President's club as it is complimentary and gives you free internet.
Paying for the Gold floor gives you the extras of the lounge and checkin on the 5th floor.
The lounge breakfast was perfectly adequate but amounts put out were small.Unfortunately it was the Labour Day long weekend so the lounge was crowded so dishes often ran out and replenishing could be slow.
In the evenings the snacks were good but if you wanted a glass of wine it was $C14.When the all up rate you are paying is ~$750 this doesn't go down well.
So to the room.In one word-small.Probably the smallest bathroom we have ever had in a hotel-
.
.
The lounge when empty-
.
.
Now the view was good-
.
.
.
Though the Bow Valley view is the preferred view. That would have been an extra $200+.
So I would recommend staying somewhere else and come to the Fairmont as a day tripper-thousands do.
