Swanning_it is back in CNS for a Friday dinner on June 9th. I'm free and the partner should be too. I'll say 7pm, location TBA currently.

I'm in. That wild Barra and sweet potato was very nice last Friday at Dundee's, so it would be good to hear from those in the know about other decent CNS restaurants! I know you mentioned a Thai place Cynicor. Perhaps that may be good as the next venue?

They are a bit small and BYO, better for a smaller night (they also have high turnover as they only seat around 20 and are always booked out). The Balinese opposite the hospital would be decent, however- Bayleaf, if that interests you?

Otherwise, Mondos just down at the Hilton has been recommended, as have a few other places. Limewood may be able to guide us.

Bayleaf would at least provide a conversation topic as they're part of the Star Mountain Group, which I loosely suspect is tied into Star Mountain Plaza, which is the new Hilton in POM! I'm easy any way. I eat just about anything so all options and recommendations are fine by me!

I'm going to have to pike on this one, I'm afraid. I've just been lumbered with new work I have to complete by tomorrow, so I'll likely just have a couple of snacks in the H-CNS lounge and then be on the computer. I'm still on for Friday week though!

Sounds good, I reckon the same place unless we get more of a crown coming. Dumpling studio, gets some good reviews (brand new)

If I'm reading this thread correctly, it's currently just Cynicor and me on for dinner tomorrow?

If that's correct, I'm going to suggest we cancel, as election time is in full swing here in PNG and the old Highland ways are on in earnest. Yesterday, Mt Hagen airport was closed due to locals shooting at aircraft and so far there have been in excess of 30 deaths in Wabag and Wapenamunda. I fly out of Hagen tomorrow and I'm far from convinced that the trip will be incident free and I doubt if we get out, that we'll be on schedule (it adds a whole new focus on flight delays ... I doubt anyone minds a delay when drunk idiots are shooting at planes).

If anyone else is intending on attending dinner tomorrow night, then by all means continue and if I make it, I'll probably certainly enjoy a number of ales (and maybe be able to tell a number of tales) ... however if it's just us two, I'd hate to leave you sitting alone at the table!

I won't be able to make it Cynicor. Terribly sorry, but HGU is still closed (apparently SOE troops are moving in today to secure the airfield), but I've got a truck load of work to do regardless, so I've decided to hang over here until next week.

Tenkyu tru, I'm sure I'll get out ... sometime! It's my +1 I really had to convince. She said "don't you want to come home"? My reply was "yes, most definitely ... but I'd prefer to do so without a bullet in my backside"!

Don't panic, as usual with me, it would be around a 5.30 landing and that's very dependable on Highlands weather. There'll always be another time!
