With the introduction of the Q400 on the SYD/DBO route there are some nice $69 one way sale fares. With that I have decided to organise a day trip up to Dubbo to include a visit to the open plains zoo.

There is plenty of sale availability on QF2040 the 0820 SYD-DBO service.

For the return there is plenty of availability on QF2045 the 1655 DBO-SYD service.

If you want to are planning on attending please let me know in this thread along with your QFF status and number of guest spots available for the T2 QANTAS Club.

We will also need to share the cost of a rental car or two for the day and zoo admission is $46 for adults.

Booked.

2 guest spots available in the QP.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I am a maybe at this stage.

There are now "fewer than 5 seats" on both of these flights at the sale price.

I really wish Dubbo was a part of QLD! :p

At least just for the day, and the connection through SYD of course. Sounds like a fun time.

I'll join in next year... when interstate travel will no longer be a hazard.

Besides, when I first saw this thread I didn't check my calendar, already got 4 flights on the 4th, 4 flights on the 5th and 1 on the 6th!! It'll be a busy weekend.

I have a wedding to attend that day, and flying to ATL (well, only booked to LAX so far) the next day.

The sale is back on if anyone has changed their minds and wants to come to DBO.

An interesting idea.

Unfortunately I am returning from Thailand the day before and I am going to be 50-60SCs short of partner Gold by end of May.

An open range zoo where the animals run free, sounds like the PER QP on a busy day.
Maybe they can take a hi-viz for the rhino's ;)

We have Werribee Open Range Zoo. And I won't go there cause it's in Werribee ;)

Im in Per QP now.. and having moved to country NSW (drive to the zoo, turn off the highway to go to the Zoo's entrance ... then drive an hour down that road - we lived somewhere off a dirt road down there) and completing high school in DUB... I can confirm - at least for easter PER QP is a much nicer place to be (not sure what its like on a normal day) ..
We will be in Adelaide otherwise would have come.. although we would have had to stay a few days and go out to Cobar as well to visit my parents then back to Parkes to visit my nan.
You all can say hello to them if you like..
There are Zoo's at both places although not as diverse as we had while I was a child still too many animals for me to count - not one of them a farm/produce/profitable animal just "pets"
