Not sure if anyone has been following this thread, http://www.australianfrequentflyer....reggie-akl-lunch-w-e-35295-44.html#post652571

There had been a lunch planned at Quay restaurant in Sydney on Sunday 12 August.

No, it's off. bossreggie contacted me and it's been delayed. He's over in London at present until after the opening ceremony

If you weren't in the know you probably wouldn't have even realized something was on. ;)

I thought I had PM'd or spoken to everyone re a postponement.

I apologize to those I missed. It is fair to say, I have been somewhat preoccupied with other matters of late so I dropped the ball on this one.

A few of us had already booked flights, so I thought it best to start a new thread, I know I hadn't been following the thread until about 2 weeks ago, as Auckland lunch was in April.

The following people will be in Sydney.

I believe several of us have booked non-refundable fares. Shall we plan an alternative lunch somewhere?

I'm flying up and back to SYD on the 12th and would love to meet with you all for a meal.
Looks like there are five of us so far and some suggestions for a restaurant. Looks like we have a plan.

Who ( how many) is / are going on the day?
I need a quick status run just need 10 SC's before my NZ trip.
So lunch works for me. Likely to do a down and back in one day though.

Has anyone been to felix on the ivy.

Sunday would be my preference as flights and accommodation already booked around Sunday lunch. I haven't been to Felix.

Likewise, Sunday (August 12th) is my preference as I have flights booked to/from Sydney for the Sunday.

Keen to try any restaurant. I also haven't been to Felix. Any other recommendations?

Looking forward to catching up with other AFFers.

All things being equal. Sunday it is.
Felix is probably more of a dinner spot, no view and down an alley, but I like the French Bistro style of it.
I am sure , some more knowledgable than I will have some good suggestions, .....fish and chips at Doyles

So thought I would start a new thread to get some ideas including the locals, haydensydney or beardoc, who may suggest something or may even want to join us.

Here's what I posted in the other thread (but I've done a self moderation and will move it here):

If it's a nice day on a weekend I've been known to pop into Oyster Bar from time to time. Read my book, have a glass or three of wine and sample the food. Nice venue.

Cafe Sydney is nice. They do a pretty good Sunday lunch with live jazz music, but you do need to book in advance.

Another option is Hugos in Manly. 30 minute ferry ride, nice lunch (their food in general is great, but they also do some fantastic pizzas and have a decent wine list) and then a ferry ride back to Circular Quay. Not too inconvenient for the flyers - before I moved back to Sydney once every few months I'd fly in on a Sunday morning, have a long lunch at Hugos with friends and then fly back out in the afternoon :)

(I don't know if I can make the lunch yet - just my thoughts).

I like the Hugos in Manly option. I've always enjoyed a ride on the Manly ferry.

My flight's due to arrive 10:45am. I don't fly out until 7:50pm. Plenty of time to visit Manly.

I still wish I could go but I have a 1 year old nephew's birthday that day.

Well it seems to be happening. So I better book a flight.

Same here. Could be nice to have a ferry ride in Sydney.

Note also 12 August is City to Surf day so staying clear of the East is smart.
Hugos Manly a good venue.

Other close venue without blowing budgets would be ripples milson point

I'd love to join you all, but unfortunately a few weeks ago I swapped into a 12 hour day shift on the Sunday, so I won't be able to join you all. A pity - you'll all be so close!

What I will do is call Centurion and grab a list of their fine dining partners list. This gives a intro to each restaurant so it can help everyone make a decision. My +1 and I may come along also as it would be great to meet everyone.

I would also suggest the topic be changed to avoid offending.
Maybe Alternative Lunch Sydney 12 August.

As I posted in the old thread I was previously intending to come.

Oh yeah, I assume you saved a seat for me?

I should book some flights. I will probably ski on the Saturday, then fly in on Sunday morning before the lunch, then out either Sunday night or Monday night.

I haven't booked anything as yet. However if the weather doesn't improve I probably won't ski on Saturday, thus freeing up the entire weekend for something.

Please list me as a interested / tentative at this stage.

I'm not that easily offended!! ;-)

There will be always be another opportunity.

I have had to prioritise things over the next few weeks and a few things have changed since my initial post.

No-one will be out of pocket except me.... And I think that is fair, if you arrange something and have to make a change.

Earlier in the week..... GPH, ALH, benmay and Myself will be enjoying a dinner with Matt Moran and Simon Gault in AKL, before I head back to LHR for the closing ceremony.

Have fun All.

I can hardly ever get the timing right.

Unfortunately I am playing golf that morning and lunch at Manly is almost impossible. Somewhere south and it is a possibility.

Enjoy your lunch....

Darn it! I was going to slip in under the radar as we'll only be there for the night. Now I'll have to get more Gin for the M.I.L...and as we're going back again the following week, she'll be very happy & feeling no pain. Just can't stay away. Must be those Bluff Oysters at $NZ 15 a dozen. Bargain!

I'd expect nothing less.

I'd personally, deal directly with the Chef/Owner. Much easier.

Please enjoy though.

When I first wrote the thread title, I wanted it to have some reference the the ongoing, bossreggie AKL lunch [W/E Apr 27-29] so that is why I chose the name, no offense was intended, yes after I wrote it some users may have thought I was having a go at Boss Reggie, which in a way I could have been, well he wasn't going to be there, so I started a new thread at least it made it clearer for everyone.

I hope Boss Reggie accepts my apology.

I think Hugo at Manly would be a good choice, just hope the weather is nice that day.

Hugo's is a good option enjoyed the ferry ride at lunch at Hugo's on a number of occasions, but more than happy to go with flow.

Thanks for your PM too Bundy.

I know you well enough to NOT be offended by the thread title.

It really is pretty darn hard to offend me.... Annoy me.... Well that's different, however... This thread title did NEITHER.

It IS totally MY fault that this date has had to be postponed... And as such I have tried to ensure that NO-ONE is out of pocket.
