On the back of the Sunshine Coast thread, reading the article this morning in the QFF email had me thinking - perhaps this is the perfect event to get some of us together.

QFF said:

I might be able to coerce my wife to attend - I'll have to see what the Social Director has in our calendar for that weekend. We may have our kids as well, but if others bring theirs, then perhaps it might work out.

Hmm... Noosa, Food & Wine are 3 things I like :) maybe should check it out.

After a (very short) consultation with the missus, we booked ourselves for 2 nights in Noosa. Looking forward to check out the Festival.

It's already on our calendar - look forward to meeting you & Mrs boomy.

Not sure yet whether we're bringing the kids (and m-i-l to babysit) or leaving then at home (with my m-i-l).

We will stay there Thursday & Friday night, hope to catch up.

Have tried to change some family commitments so we can attend this AFF gathering. However, it's been a lost cause :( Bugger!

Enjoy

I am currently exploring the possibility of flying in on the 14th and out on the 15th for 1 day of gourmet fabulousness! Will it be convenient for me to stay at hilton surfers and get to the festival?

It's going to be a long drive, close to 3 hours.

Noosa is on the Sunshine Coast. No Hiltons but it does have a sheraton.
Traffic between the Sunshine coast and gold coast can be really heavy.
For a 1 day visit I would fly into MCY and stay overnight locally.

IMO not a good idea. Too far to travel. Better to stay at Noosa.
I have been to the festival a few times. It is a wonderful event with many gourmet delicacies.

Eeek, Mrs QF WP has been coerced into being on a flower stall on Saturday afternoon (duty calls apparently :o, a requirements of my daughters Joey Scouts'). So I am going to miss meeting boomy :( as we can only come up Sunday. Lucky I hadn't booked accom :o

There was somebody else going to the event, I think they posted in the EpiQure thread (they got tickets through there).

Sorry to hear that QF WP. Was looking forward to catch up with you and Mrs QF WP.
At least you can go on Sunday so not all is lost :)

I'm flying down to MEL tomorrow (day trip) - so on the off chance that we could meet up - I've got meetings at South Melbourne & Port Melbourne and in the CBD during the day with some possible availability...then a 7pm QF flight home.

My office is located in the CBD and I should be in the area most of the day tomorrow. Give me an hour's notice if you have some free time between meetings.

I would love to attend. However Mrs GPH is flying in from NZ on the Saturday. I suspect a drive to Noosa and back on the Sunday is a bridge too far

Been to the food & wine festival on Saturday. Unlike Friday, this time we got lucky with perfect weather. We started with cheese and wine tastings and moved on to sample some dishes made by various restaurants and celebrity chefs who took part in the event.
All that food was washed down well with beer, coughtails, sake and a lot of wine.
After all that alcohol some strong coffee was needed to make the drive back to BNE possible :)
The heavy rain that poured the day before created a lot of mud and I couldn't help thinking that if someone would have offered shoe cleaning service near the exit, they would make a lot of money on the day ;)
