Dear AFF friends

This is a wider invite to the lovely AFF community regarding a Wine Tasting Meal that has been booked in Sydney for 6:30pm on 6 January 2016 at Sky Pheonix, located in the heart of the Sydney CBD.

Ten people have confirmed their attendance, and around another five are still definite-maybes. There are a few interstate travellers, and some very funny characters, coming. So I am expecting lots of fun.

There is a theme for the night - wines in their sweet spot. And there is a competition, with three expected winners who will each take away some amazing wines. We will be hiring our very own private dining room in Sky Pheonix, so it is sure to be a relaxed, intimate and fun night, where great company paired with great wine will be the order of the night.

The cost is expected to be around $50 - $55 per person for the food, corkage and private room fee. Each person must bring two identical bottles of wine too, at whatever price point they want. One bottle will be blind tasted and judged by everybody, and the other will go in the prize draw for the three winners. To meet the theme, the wine must be from a 2008, 2009 or 2010 vintage, but it can be from anywhere in the world, and can be red, white, pink or bubbles.

You don't have to be a wine connoisseur to come. You just need to bring your best nose, nostrils and networking skills!

More details can be found on Wine Lovers section and the thread by the similar name to the above.

If you have confirmed you are coming, then please do not feel obliged to confirm again here. This is just an additional thread for those that might not frequent the Wine Lovers section that often.

I hope some more can make it.

My warm regards at this festive time,

Wozza

I'm shocked - you've finally ventured outside of the Wine Lovers subforum!

It's going to be a great night; can't wait!

I'll be following this thread.
Waiting to finalise my schedule for Jan and definitely interested if will be in SYD on the day.

It would be great to see you there, Boomy.

But no worries if the stars don't align for that day. I am thinking of organising another event in the coming months where we get better access to the BYO restaurants and more people are around and not on their holidays. Watch this space ...

And PM or post to this Meet Up thread or the Wine Lovers thread if you can make it.

Warm regards on the lazy Sunday,

Wozza

, me or Beefarmer will do a little report on here and the corresponding Wine Lovers thread, so you can see what we got up to and what we drunk.

In the meantime, enjoy Norway - what a stunning place to be over Christmas.

Hey Wozza,
I have very little history here as I mainly just read the threads, but I'm trying to be a bit more impulsive in 2016, and I'm free tomorrow night, so I'm in if there's room for another... Cheers!

Awesome, I will get you added to the dinner booking, Leuke. We have a private dining room, so it's easy to add numbers.

In terms of details, see post number 11 above. In terms of the wine to bring, there is more detail on the Wine Lovers section, but suffice to say all you need to know is that you need to bring two identical bottles of wine of a 2008, 2009 or 2010 vintage. It can be from anywhere in the world and at whatever price point you want. It can be red, white, pink or bubbles.

One of your wines will be put into the prize draw and the other will be tasted by all those that come. The persons with the top three wines will get to take away a stash of the prize draw wines. With 12 people, the winner will take away 5 wines, second place 4 wines, and third place 3 wines. This adds a bit of competition and fun to the night.

The wines will be blind tasted to make it more interesting. I am secretly hoping we'll all be blown away by a reasonably priced wine, rather than one of the really expensive ones!! But feel free to bring whatever you like within the 2008 - 2010 vintages.

If you have any further questions, then please feel free to PM me.

See you tomorrow night ...

Tried to move things around but no success.
Have fun tomorrow night and hopefully I'll get to attend the next SYD event.
