Can I check in at the domestic terminal for an International flight?

My itinerary - 24Oct - SYD-MELB QF435 1300-1435
MELB - SIN QF9 1630-2115

and returning on 5November - Flying QF all sectors - Economy

My question is, can I "check in" for my International flight (from MEL-SIN) at Sydney Airport? Do I clear Customs at Sydney or Melbourne? I've always been able to grab
a direct flight but not on this occasion and was therefore after some advice.

At Sydney Airport, go to the International Connections desk to check in and they will check you in for both flights and check the baggage all the way through.

When you get to Melbourne, head to international departures and you will complete immigration formalities there

Just to confirm, the international connection checkin at SYD T3 for QF is really painless. I assume that your itinerary is in 1 ticket.

It does not need to be all on one ticket.

Just note the check-in counter is posted something like "Domestic Connection to International Flight".

If you have luggage you check it there.

No don't believe it does. Moves quickly though,

No although I have hardly ever seen anyone waiting in this queue.

When they are not busy they do call passengers from the check-in queues so you may have to wait a couple of minutes.
