Not sure which one is more dangerous but leaning to Yemen as the greater risk.....

I hope it pays well.

It is actually a serious consideration - just unsure which OW member flies to Baghdad. RJ fly into SAH...

Whilst i'm beginning to suspect a wind-up, EY fly to BGW. You could try Flydubai / EK (wonder fi you could get a QF codeshare on DXB-BGW)? RJ also do BGW.

Which airport in Iraq would you need to travel?

As for Yemen, Sana'a or Aden again via RJ. Flights arent daily.

They are a little unnerving but the company wouldn't send people there if they didn't think they could be made safe.

Certainly not a wind up. This AFF so if I were to be travelling for work I would of course be looking to maximise status/benefits as I would if travelling to a bad area or a good area.

There are other places which are far worse, but I admit it wouldn't be for the faint hearted.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Have you been to the RJ website - makes Yemen look a dream. Go via the route map and when you click on a destination info comes up about the destination.

If you want OW and want to maxise SCs etc, then RJ are going to be the go, depending on which cities you need to fly in and out of.

Do you know where you would be going?

Where exactly is "far worse"?

Equivalent sure. Far worse, I cant see.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Afghanistan, tribal areas of Pakistan, would be 2 worse places, I imagine.

I would have considered them "equivalent" but YMMV (I have no personal experience of any of these places!). Yemen is under-rated as a dangerous place (sorry simongr).

There's certain parts of Western Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa that i'd have on an "equivalent" list. The danger differs in nature, but all are dangerous in their own way.

Better than having to go to France! :p

Air Berlin fly to EBL. Just over five hours from Baghdad by armoured convoy! :p

The difference for me is the ongoing overt war situation, that multiplies the danger, IMO. I helped host a group of Iraqi visitors a few years ago and they felt the country was much improved. I'd love to visit both stans but too dangerous.

I think as always, where you go within any particular country and the precautions you take make a big difference to the risk.

There's plenty of overt and covert (guerrilla) war going on in plenty of other countries too.
