Back in August I was one of the many who took up the Virgin/QF WP status match and last week I finally recieved my HH Diamond card...YEE HAA ,so now I am busy booking a few nights stay for a Done 4 trip which kicks off in a few weeks.

As I have mainly used PC in the past HH is fairly new to me and I am keen to extract some value, so I see that you can get some form of discount by claiming AAA membership, some past posts here have mentioned AU NRMA ,RAC etc members qualify for this deal but the web site basically says I must present my AAA card upon arrival...therefore my question is will an NRMA card be accepted in the U.S. and Europe to obtain this rate?

I gather the poceedure would be just to book the room through the HH website, check the AAA rate box and flash your Auto club card at check in?

Also it seems from the Hiltons that I am looking at, the AAA rate is a more expensive rate than the Adv purchase rate and if you try to combine the AAA rate and AP rate it makes no difference to the price.

Any feedback on this?

Your NRMA card should have a small AAA logon on the back and IF they ask that is all you need. The RACV card does.

From my experience the AAA rate is very similar to the Advanced Purchase rate but gives you more flexibility.

I always used the AAA rate until early this year when they suddenly decided that the AAA rate was not acceptable to get the Hilton Premium Club discount.

Probably only half the time I have had to present the card at check in.Never a problem producing my RACQ card.
Also many other discounts available in the USA using your card.Just google AAA discounts.Ones we use frequently are Gap outlets-10% off,Reebok/Rockport outlets 20% off in addition to any other discounts.

Yes NRMa is an AAA club, it's got the number next to the AAA symbol,. I've use it at SPG hotels. No issues. AAA is international.

Thanks for the advice...the $90 annual fee for the NRMA is a better deal than thought!

I just tried booking the Hilton Brisbane on the Hilton website using the AAA rate but it won't accept the 3 digit code on the back of my NRMA card...any suggestions?

However, Bill's comment above that you can't get the 20% Hilton Premium Club discount suggests I should not book the AAA rate. Also, I'm planning to use one of the old HPC "Member for a Stay" cards I still have which has no expiry date so I'm hoping this would still be acceptable by the hotel. The daily flexible rate at the Hilton Brisbane in May next year (attending a conference) is a whopping $329 / night so I would really like the 20% off!!

It was the Hilton Brisbane that highlighted the HPC versus AAA rate issue so personally I would not bother.

They recently updated the website and broke this functionality. However you can use this number to obtain the discount if you so choose:

Thanks for the heads-up. Really saved me having a conniption fit.

The Hilton site still doesn't accept the 3 digit AAA code for NRMA.

Do you have one then?

I do have a membership, if that's what you mean. If you mean an alternate number, I have used the number Simongr kindly posted above, and a working 3 digit code is (from memory) on another thread.

Hmm, OK. When I search all I ever need to do is tick AAA. Should I be putting a code in also?

No, to get the prices up ou don't need anything special. When you go to book, however, some AAA club codes do not seem to be valid. I have booked with a random code but always have the card ready to show the check in desk.

This caught me out te first time, as I could always see the rates, and didn't know what everyone meant by it not working.

Ah! OK, thanks. I just tried then but the Hilton site seems to be having issues. When I search all the results say a room "might be available", then when you click through, it errors out :(
