After reading bossreggies thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....events/bossreggie-akl-lunch-w-e-35295-41.html I have decided to organise my own lunch

This lunch really highlights what is great about Cairns and the local produce. Hopefully everyone will come away from the weekend having a new found respect for the local food that is available.

I have managed to secure a table at one of the most sought after locations in the region…. The wonderful and award winning ……."Cairns Central Foodcourt"

I have spoken to the "chefs" and we have decided on the following menu.

Entree: 10pk Chicken McBites - Enjoy the wonders of bite size pieces of chicken hand coated in wonderful spices. Before being cooked beyond perfection.

Main: Whopper or Bacon Deluxe (Side of Chips/Onion Rings) Both of these highlight the wonderful "Beef" available in the region. The way the flames from the grill just kiss the meat during the cooking process brings out the best of the flavours, which allows them to "Make it Better" - Beverage selected to match the food (if you require Chicken or Fish I'm told the chefs will be able to cater for this.)

Desert: This is definitely the exciting part of the day, one many of you won't ever forget! … COLD ROCK. My "Special" will be provided to all FOR FREE!!!!!!!. Its a wonderful mix of Coffee Ice Cream, Bounty & Oreo Cookies.

I can arrange transport for those that needed, in either the Ford or Holden station wagons.

Anyone willing to fly up to Cairns to participate in this event, please get to a doctor ASAP! …

does tiger fly to cairns, i may consider it for this event - beats the gulfstream anyday

I think the local vendors in the Night Markets food court will be offended that you have neglected them ;)

Tiger no longer flys to CNS.

Secondly - its not an issue of Holden vs Ford.... It's all about the 'locals' getting around on whichever pushbike they stole that morning.

I have moved this thread to the forum where it really belongs.:p

what? ... playground? ... thats not fair, its clearly a social event, all 4 me will be there!

anyway, keep an eye on this thread, ill be having a practice run over the next few days and will post some pictures of what would be expected

It was tough, but they couldn't guarantee the food would be the same age (24+ hours) on the day of the lunch - they dared to suggest that it might be fresh!

Move was based on this content of the OP:

In the words of John McEnroe, "you can't [couldn't] be serious!".

I am very familiar with the location suggested, and have tried the menu.

Alas, I will have to abstain - not because your plan is bad, but merely because I don't plan on being anywhere within 10K miles from CNS.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours though, and hope you get the attendance you deserve for such a fine event.

(PS, are after-drinks at the Woolshed?)

why thank you, its good to see someone else bing so serious about this event ... its a shame you wont be able to attend as i know it would be something you WOULD forget

re after-drinks, i was thinking the Railway Hotel - just mind the odd glassing/abuse

Ouch, I've also been there and survived... somehow, just.

PS, If I was putting on my "Dirty old man" hat, I would have chosen Gilligans. :)

Ok, after drinks could be at the Cairns RSL instead. Decent prices, mudflat views ... What more could you hope for in Cairns?

Might be in CNS that week for work before I go to AKL.

So if possible I could do a comparison report.

Hmmm.

IMHO you had more class when talking about the Woolshed.....

Although for this luncheon I understand that any Gilligans' attendees will be provided with complimentary delousing ;)

MarkJ23,

Why don't you organise a weekend like BR's is in AKL.

This thread has had a bit of fun but think it is time to shut it down,IMHO

Simo

It's in the playground area. Im sure those of us that can't attend AKL (for whatever reason) can be allowed a little fun :)
