On a flight today I overheard a funny conversation between two of the flight attendants and thought a thread about things you've overheard onboard might generate some amusing posts. Here's one to start us off.

Two flight attendants discussing their new boyfriends:
FA1:"He wants to go back to the family farm."
FA2: "What sort of farm is it?"
FA1: "One with animals and stuff."
FA2: "What kind of animals?"
FA1: "Mostly cows."
FA2: "Is it a dairy farm?"
FA1: "No."
FA2: "What type of cows are they?"
FA1: "The kind you eat."

I was conjuring the role between the FAs' inflight as they perhaps rolled the trolley, deep in conversation - somewhat oblivious to the passengers..

While boarding a JQ flight this week which was already an hour late due to the late arrival of the inbound service the FA said "...to assist us with an on-time departure..."

I guess he was just reading from the manual. Full marks for attention to detail. Marks off for lack of common sense.

Similar to the FAs' that read from the flight manual.. :-/

Syd>NZ and had the usual last pax on board trying to sit in PE (VA flight) instead of his seat at the back and the FA decided by the 3rd request via a 3rd FA that "He will sit in that damned seat and stay there if its the last thing I ever do on this plane".

Not sure to be alarmed or alert. Hubby was slightly afraid to ask for a 2nd snack after that but she was lovely before/after that.

Funny thing was the older guy in row 2 was a Y pax but when he was making his way to his seat, she noticed the surnames on the BP and told him to sit next to his wife who was in row 2 as it was free.

Not onboard, but shortly after - at the immigration line at SYD a few years ago:

"I'm NOT a foreigner, I'm an AMERICAN!" when asked to move out of the line for Australian passport holders.

I'd forgotten this one until someone made a Darwin joke today. This was in about Oct 2012 after landing in DRW the FA said, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Darwin where the local time is 1994."

Not so much about overheard onboard, though relevant.
'Due to the late arrival of the aircraft there is a delay in boarding"
Rather strange when I have been staring at the aircraft at the assigned gate for the past 95 mins

I love this thread so here's a bump...

I was on a QF 737 last week when the gent in 12F decided to press his call button and complain loudly about the fact his seat would not recline. I'm sure it took every ounce of the FAs patience to keep saying that the row behind is an exit row and the seat is not meant to recline. If it hadnt been so tense it would have been funny(Monty Python?).

Quote of the year, said in the most DYKWIA way "I'm a Silver Frequent Flyer you know".

He's about 20 years too late!

I recently found an old boarding pass from 1993 for a trip to Hawaii when I was PS which had a comment "CIP Frequent Flyer Silver"!

It was on QF17 on the 747-200 Combi so it would've been on VH-ECB or VH-ECC when economy class was upstairs so I'd selected seat 12A which was brilliant.

For some reason I could only visualise the two 'flamboyant' FAs from the recurring Fast Forward sketch all those years ago.
