As a lowly PS, I don't get much in the way of perks. But I thought free Advance Seat Selection was one of them. I've just booked an Award flight SYD-LHR for late July next year and when I've gone in to choose my seats the system is asking me to pay $20 per segment . The website ain't much help on this either, other than to say "Available directly after booking at qantas.com, Advance Seat Selection is
complimentary if:... You are a Platinum, Gold or Silver Frequent Flyer or equivalent oneworld Frequent Flyer."

Does anyone know if it's because it's not a "paid" ticket (although at $900 for taxes it ain't exactly a bargain)? I would have thought status is status, regardless of the ticket. Would appreciate any insight before I ring Qantas to complain :)

This is a glitch. - I had the same thing the other day. You will also notice that your itinerary won't have your FF details on it, and if you try to add it online it won't stick.

In my case I called the service desk and asked the rep to make sure my FF number was properly associated with the booking. He fixed it and immediately I could select seats without it trying to charge.
