To kick off Qantas' 95th birthday celebrations, a Qantas retro-inspired charity flight is set for take-off! Destination? Longreach!

On Saturday October 31 2015, we’ll be operating a one-off joy flight from Sydney to Longreach return in support of the Western Queensland Drought Appeal.

Working with The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), all funds raised by Qantas will go directly to the Western Queensland Drought Appeal and help those experiencing difficulty as a result of the ongoing drought.

For $737, passengers will enjoy a full day out including a champagne breakfast and special musical performance at Sydney’s Domestic Business Lounge on departure, celebrity inflight auctions, Qantas Founders Museum tour, lunch, a delicious 70s themed Neil Perry inflight menu with matching retro coughtails and more.

Thanks to the support from Shell, Air BP, Sydney Airport and Queensland Airports Limited, and cabin crew and pilots who have volunteered their time.

Don’t miss your chance to get onboard this exclusive, once in a lifetime (perhaps twice for the original hipsters) flight. Tickets on sale now: http://bit.ly/1MYG8pC

Hope to welcome you onboard groovy daytrippers! ;)

NB/ I have contacted Australian Frequent Flyer (AFF) and they have approved this post. AFF has no financial interest in this offer, and will not be involved in the booking process. The AFF admin team, including moderators are welcome to participate.

It seems I can't select seats, so I'd like to put in a request for something up the front on at least one of the legs :) now I've got to book my flight to/from SYD to position for this great event.

Also, the booking conditions say points/SC not earned, but then at the confirmation screen it tells me how many points/SC I wont be earning, very sad to see my loss there ;)

I wonder why QF decided not to award points and status credits for these flights... :-|

It's a charity flight for one, I'd imagine all the fuel, crew hours etc are all donated, so no one is making any money out of it... or rather, the ones making money out of it are the charities benefiting... so they're not going to give away points/SC.

But I think this is also standard of all charters, that points/SC are not earned.

Tick, and tick. :)

Fair enough!

Wow very tempting, that sounds like a great day out, but I don't think I can justify it :( I'll have to content myself reading about it from those who do go

And no surprises that some on here automatically read something negative into a genuine question.

I've already booked to go to Longreach 3-5th October, otherwise would have booked this...interesting that the direct flight from Syd to Lre is just over 2 hours cf to our Syd-Bne-Bci-Lre flights which will take more than 4 hours :(

The Q400 flies at 667KM/h compared to the cruise of a 738 of about 850KM/h or so?

You also stop in Barcaldine briefly, but the flight between BCI and LRE is short!

While this flight is for charity, if you're visiting the region for a few days you'll be doing more for them as you'll be able to stimulate their economy in other ways, and they do need a lot of help out there right now. You'll also get to see and do more than a simple day trip would allow.

To be fair, that route is much more scenic... :p

Looks like a fun trip, and a good cause.

Unfortunately I will be in the Middle East, so won't make it. It would be good to see more of these in the future.
