Just found out that QF11 next Friday has been downgraded from an A388 to a 744...

Had an F upgrade that had cleared weeks ago, but alas, no more due to change in aircraft

First world problem, I know, but still...bugger

Ouch I hope they kindly return ur hard earned points

Can you (do you want to?) change to an earlier/later flight? And hopefully the points will be returned.

Well hopefully it's a refurb, so back to mkII instead of mkI.

I can change to a flight the day before on 388, but stuffs up a connecting flight to IAD. And no guarantee of an upgrade on the changed flight

Probably most disappointing that I had to find out myself and there was no correspondence from QF to inform me of the change (and the subsequent demotion)

Yeah ... it seems QF have been down an A380 since mid april due to a hangar mishap. Indications apparent are that it will take six weeks or so to repair.

... plenty of disgruntled F PAX .... some report of being able to transfer to DFW

I think this was mentioned somewhere around - but I can't find it; there's a dedicated thread on FT.

Due to fly on QF11 on Thurs 28 May - fingers crossed this bird has not changed to a 744

Have a look at your booking in Manage my booking.... it will be obvious from seat map, (unless there's a last minute change).

Also, Expert Flyer says it's a big bird not 744 (one I'm on next week shows it's a744, confirmed by looking at MMB)..

??!?!

How can an F upgrade clear weeks [before the flight]?

Apologies, terminology may not be right...still a bit new to this
Got an SMS confirming that my upgrade was successful - 6wks before flight
No points deducted.

But still, confirmed in writing of F upgrade and now impossible given change of aircraft...

That is not how Qantas published upgrade procedure for revenue fares works ...

Do you have more information ... as in ... had you been able to select a First class seat after this confirmation? ( and before the substitution)

I transferred to flying out of DFW instead of LAX for our flight home in May. The flight out of DFW had zero seats selected at the time I changed and when I looked a couple of days ago ours were the only two in F. Whether this is indicative of general F loads out of DFW I don't know.

Received an SMS saying: "Your point pgrade to First on QF0011 from SYD to LAX departing 15MAY at 09:50 has been confirmed. Enjoy your flight!" (6wks pre-flight)
Couldn't select seat at the time

Have received other similar SMS messages with successful upgrades too

You are privileged then ...

We're doing our best to contact customers impacted by this change. Sorry to hear this hasn't been your experience. I'd appreciate an opportunity to follow up via private message.
