Not surprised by this really. Even some of their call centre staff don't understand the difference between Classic & ASA.

It was only april last year that saw the change, I am not surprised that the web side of things may not have caught up!

You would want to get that sorted with QF before you book. You are paying pretty big points for those ASA's and should get your SC's.

Strange.

Here's the text from a SYD-BKK JASA

Points and Status Credits may be earned on this fare. Classed as Business when Points or Status Credits are earned.

Wonder if it's directional?

As a comparison, I checked HKG-SYD, and it shows the same as above (i.e. earns SCs and points).

Hi,
Not sure if you have booked the flight yet, but I think if its a 1 way booking from BKK you may have the ticket cancelled if you dont front up to Qantas's agent in BKK a few days after the booking is made. From memory, realistically you cannot book a 1 way fare from BKK or MNL, because you are required to front up with the CC in BKK or MNL within a few days of making the booking. I know with an award there may be no payment, however I once discussed this with QF CS on the phone and they agreed a 1 way fare could not be booked without a visit to (in my case then) the agent in MNL (and I suspect the same setup in BKK). I believe this is due to the agent they use to sell tickets in those 2 locations.

Someone else may have information which further qualifies my information as accurate?

This is a bit from the rule conditions from my YASA BKK SYD in Feb next year

not really worried as I think the SCs/points will post but it is strange wording... You can upgrade but earn no points or SC's but the SCs are classed as discount economy... Almost like something our developers in Europe would write :D

PS: you do have to go to the QF office in BKK to get the ticket issued but if you give them a call they will keep the booking live till you can get there. Last time I had the booking on hold for 3 months till I was in BKK again to get the ticket issued.

I've had a few ASAs ex BKK recently and can confirm that points & SCs were received.

Just for the record, this anomaly is still showing up today.

I was looking at options for MEL-LHR-MEL, and searched for a combination of ASA and paid legs.
The BGK-LHR J paid leg showed with the following:
<Points and Status Credits are not earned when travelling on Qantas Any Seat Awards. Classed as Business when Status Credits are earned on this fare.>

If this is a hangover from the previous earning regime, it's taking a long time for the catch up!

Returned this weekend from my YASA and points and SC's posted correctly. So all good and happy

Hi All,

Just picked up on this thread after it received its second wind.
I will look into it.

Ive seen that and never paid attention to it...

As many of you have noted, Points and Status credits are earned on eligible Any Seat Award flights.
We are investigating the erroneous messages that you have picked up and hope to fix this shortly.

Sorry for the confusion.

Cheers,

Thank you.
Would you mind posting a confirmation when this is sorted, please?

Just for clarity are XZUP the booking classes for both classic and ASA?

Just on the wording that Red Roo gave it left it open that you could book an ASA and not earn as it may not be in an elligible booking class.

Those are the Qantas award fare buckets - Classic Awards use them.

xASA's can use them to, but may also use other fare buckets.

However, when xASA's use the award fare buckets they tend to be drastically cheaper.

I have earned QFF points and SC's in X and U classes when booked on ASA's; never travelled a PE or a First xASA as yet.
