Jetstarisation of CNS Routes

Can't see if Markis10 beat me to it - so this is my preemptive whine about the further Jetstarisation of QF routes ex-CNS.

I thought this business was going to stop QF..!!

It's great that you're increasing capacity for leisure flyers with additional JQ flights being announced.

But I'm not impressed with the announcement that some CNS-SYD flights are going to be replaced with the Orange Cancer.

So I will return to my previous question on the topic:

- As a WP what incentive is there for me to choose a "Qantas Group Airline" when I receive no benefits or incentives to do so.

(And me having "the privilege and benefit" of being able to pay a premium to earn points is NOT a benefit).

Given that I live minutes from the airport (as does everyone in CNS), lounge access doesn't count.

Forcing me to not fly QF (by removing the route) is not going to result in me flying JQ unless there is some incentive for keeping my $$$ within the "Qantas Group".

I get no priority check-in, no baggage allowance, no seat selection, no inflight service, no points or SC's.

And whilst I get lounge access, the flights do nothing to assist me in keeping my status (and therefore lounge access privileges).

If I can't fly QF - I refuse to fly TT, therefore my only choice is between JQ and DJ - let's think about that..... Priority checkin, baggage allowance, points and status credits, Row 3.......

Not to mention that DJ are at least offering (In a half-pregnant kinda way) Business Class on this route.

Many of my CNS-SYD and vv flights are connecting with Int flights (quite often in J or F). It's a decent flight time on this connection and enough that I won't want to be stuck at the back of the Deathstar bus when connecting off QF12 in F for example.

It's a slippery slope down for you QF and an upward one for DJ (albeit slowly).


Alternatively - come back to me with some incentive to actually fly JQ (where QF isn't available) and I most likely would keep my $$$ within the "Qantas Group".

I'm not questioning the business case, I understand it fully. That said I've never been on a flight between CNS and SYD or vv where the J cabin hasn't been full. Some paid and some no doubt points.

My issue is if you Cancerise the route (ie. actively replace Roo tail with Orange tail), then as a QFF give me an incentive to not take my $$$ and give it to DJ.

In fact the benefit will be that running Deathstar on that schedule should result in forcing DJ's fares lower on the comparable flight.

So not only do I take my $$$ away from the "Qantas Group" but I save money too.

My beef is from a QFF point of view, not questioning the economics of Qantas running the route.

Rubbish, Business travellers account for over 23% of all travellers which is higher than the state average and not far from Brisbane percentage wise while being a long way from the 10% for the Gold Coast.

They have announced:

- extra JQ flights in and out of CNS.

- JQ will replace some QF services between CNS & SYD

I haven't found which exact flight #s are affected yet.

They are my two flights of choice. Ie. First flight down and last flight back up.

(Both of which have always had full J cabins on every flight I've taken).

Each time they replace Qantas flights with JQ they announce how many extra Pax there will be, its rubbish its not as many as one is led to believe

No I'm not happy about the loss of Qantas flights at all.

But I'd expect Q in J to be full most of the time because the majority of flights are 737's with just 12 seats.

In the past year or so I like many others simply don't understand the Qantas thinking, its change after change, most of it is a disaster and not acceptable to many loyal customers, and now trying to push us onto JQ, VA must be laughing.

921 and 932 are religiously the flights! JQ is up to 6x Daily on CNS-MEL with a redeye each way! CNS-SYD is up to 5x Daily, CNS-OOL is 2x Daily! Plus upgrades to CNS-BNE and CNS-ADL. No more CNS-SYD-DFW! Where is QF's loyalty?

I understand your situation fully and totally sympathise as I went through this 4 years ago when QF walked from OOL. At least you still have some QF flights, albeit dwindling.
Through some misguided loyalty I drove or airtrained to Brisbane to keep flying QF but finally I said stuff it and threw my lot in with DJ and have not looked back. As a Platinum with DJ I have been looked after quite well and don't regret the change of allegiance for one moment. The question I asked myself was what is QF doing to look after or retain the QFF's at OOL and the answer was nothing (all QF flights removed, Lounge closed). The decision was pretty easy fo me but YMMV.

Oh no! 932 is currently my weekly ride home. I've been preferring it over the DJ E190 on DJ1429 lately... I have a much better chance of getting a spare seat next to me in my guaranteed exit row on the QF B737-800, and on-departure upgrades to 737 J service are great. I'm not fond of J on the E190: the seats just don't cut it, even if you get two and two tables. And with upgrades from Flexi fares only, it doesn't compare to the flexibility of upgrades from either red eDeals or Savers fares with QF.

And with DJ1429 already full every time I catch it, this situation is only going to make it worse. I can only hope they upgrade it to a 738, but I'm not hopeful as they have been moving all their capacity onto the Golden Triangle lately: even OOL has suffered: a good number of 737-700s consistently operate the OOL-SYD route lately, not to mention they've dropped a good number of their afternoon/evening services.

And 921 was a great way to get to SYD for work in the morning. If only to suit my work schedule, looks like DJ will end up with more of my business travel, but that's not necessarily the best outcome from my perspective. I'm happy with some aspects of the DJ changes, but so many aspects are still half-baked and you play the lottery with other aspects.

The 700s are on the way out of course, and DJ are getting a new 800 every few weeks, one arrived earlier this week, I would not be surprised if they bump up the CNS flights to bigger aircraft, they have done well from OOL.

Yes, not a good day for the Cairns residents. From August we are now down to two round trips SYD-CNS a day on QF which must be near the bottom point of critical mass. I am not holding my breath over those. They are also at inconvenient times making same day trips impossible and increasing the number of overnights in Sydney. QF did exactly the same thing in relation to international routes such as CNS-Japan some years ago and that has effectively contributed to one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.

In addition to the matters raised by dfcatch there is now very little possibility of same day connections, in or out, on QF to international destinations at least via SYD. This will further affect tourism. It also nicely screws up 3 trips booked for me.

Having given JQ several tries over the years I will not be flying on them unless there is just no other choice.

Considering the flights they have canned.....this seems like a very ill-advised move.

What are they thinking throwing those flights to Jetstar? How does anyone connect to international on QF mainline now?
