MEL First lounge joins PER RSA push

It seems that the MEL First lounge is learning from the QF PER domestic lounge.

I have enjoyed 4 drinks in the QFi lounge in MEL in the last 4 hours and have been told that I have been cut off due to RSA regulations. The F&B manager had been advised that we have had "7 rounds" and could not serve us any more as we may be refused boarding. As I hold an RSA myself, I could see this was stretching the boundaries.

Actually the drinks were as follows:

Champagne, coffee, champagne, champagne, red wine. A considerable amount of water has also been consumed along with food. The two friends accompanying I am with and I have also been quite reserved in our behaviour.

Now I am not normally a conspiracy theorist, however this occurred about ten minutes after I made a comment to the front desk about the level of service of the Accor staff.

Some time after QF93 left and the lounge had quietened I took the time to chat to the First host and the other front desk attendant. I told them that the food and beverage staff seemed disinterested with providing the appropriate level of service to anyone in the lounge regardless of how busy it was. The First host spoke with the F&B manager. The F&B manager then cut us off.

Red Roo, are guests who complain to be treated like little children and told they can't have any more? I would have thought polite critiquing would be welcomed.
 
Yet to hear of a report of any pax denied boarding after an F lounge sojourn.

Unless there was supporting evidence of (drunken) misbehavior on your part, it seemed ... a little petty to me.

Everyone is different of course to the effects of EtOH.

I'd be certainly drunk with those 'four rounds' !

Four drinks in four hours is usually considered legal to drive, depending on the person...

Well they were consumed over four hours, so we were not 'chugging' them down. And I would suggest there was no drunken behaviour.

If they are standard drinks, which of course is not what is served in the lounges when it comes to portion size, with the exception of the light beer.

They certainly weren't large pours, champagne was barely half a glass.

If this is the case, it is pretty disappointing and un-professional of them. :confused:

I will be following this thread incase Red Roo responds. Certainly seems like a grudge by the staff, but I'm biased as I've always felt I've been treated differently in the MEL F lounge.

I recall a member previously stating they were able to get a printout of the order for the table from the register... perhaps you should ask for your "bill" for a future complaint you can send in with evidence they can't deny.
 
Unfortunately challenging a refusal to serve would likely give the appearence of the refusal being justified. If the F&B manager did indeed orchestrate the situation it, which looks likely considering the 7 rounds has no truth, I would hope this is investigated.
 
If there's a complaint lodged, a viewing of the CCTV may show how many glasses were served.
 
More QF cost cutting? Did you have to pay extra for a window seat with a view? <tongue firmly in cheek>

7 rounds? I wonder, when the F&B manager checked, it was a combined consumption with the previous users of the same table?
 
Maybe making a "comment to the front desk about the level of service of the Accor staff" will need to be done when ready to leave the FLounge for the flight, and not before.

A bit too late for them to retaliate then.
 
Welcome to my world Jessica!! lol ...... but really? at least Perth is just a QP , not what one would suspect from an F lounge.

I wonder if the confusion might have been caused by socialising with friends who happened to be there on another flight, but departed before we had lunch, and therefore their drinks were attributed to us on this mysterious list.

I also suggested that his count of our drinks was inaccurate, as we moved tables a couple of times, and were with a larger group earlier on. I made it clear I was not challenging his decision, just the information it was based on.
 
Sad to hear, I hope this came about from a misunderstanding / mixup of tables etc and is an isolated event.

Sad to say the least.

How about the self serve alcohol? Who monitors consumption?

Also I feel complaining about Accor staff wasn't necessary. You could have done that via feedback.
