Do the Qantas lounge remain well stocked around 10-11pm? I am going on a Jetstar flight to Japan but the flight is at 1am, so I am not sure whether it is worth using a qantas lounge pass to access the lounge given it close at 11pm.

I haven't been to any Qantas lounge before so don't want to get a horrible first impression to scar me for life! :D

The MEL international J lounge is very underwhelming compared to its Sydney equivalent, particularly with its location being under the terminal concourse with no runway views and a lack of natural light .

The best redemption for a QC pass is the Sydney International J lounge IMHO.

I used this Lounge a few years ago for JQ 23, when the flight departed at just before midnight and the food options on offer were extremely limited and poor to say the least.

Thank Goodness the F lounge is open later these days which will stay open until QF 9 is called for boarding, although the F lounge will close once boarding is announced for this flight which is now well before JQ23 .

However im of the view the J lounge will stay open until at least JQ23 is called for boarding as this lounge is where JQ Business Max pax are directed to.

Yeah it's pretty average as a lounge, and late at night it gets a bit ordinary in my opinion, so if you're going to use a pass you'll want to get your money's worth in there. Personally I would stay at home or in town and minimise the time spent at the airport.

Guess I will save the pass for another day, I only flew out of Sydney once, but at least hopefully I can use it during day time rather than really odd hours like midnight.

Can someone confirm whether the international J lounge stay open until the last JQ flight is called for boarding? I thought about getting a Qantas club membership through work discount, but I was deterred by the 11pm closing time listed on the Qantas website (with many Jetstar flights departing after midnight, it's not useful at all)

May be best to give the lounge a call and find out for sure.

One presumes almost all lounges suffer from a lack of natural light at 10pm.

I have been well looked after well inside the lounge when the last flight of the day was delayed! Being the only one in the lounge everybody new me by name © my flight to Mildura was (quite) empty flight so very few about at that time.

They kept the place from closing just for me

If you have some choice as to when you arrive in Melbourne for your flight - I agree, save your pass for another time.

For me, the main benefits of a general lounge (such as the Qantas international J lounge) are when you have a least two hours to kill, want a place to sit comfortably and in peace, and need some food and drink. At that time of night, you'll have no trouble at all finding a quiet and comfortable spot in the terminal to relax. Easily find a snack for $5-$10 if needed. If you were to get to the airport by say 11pm, that would be my plan.

But if you are transiting from elsewhere and have more than 3 or 4 hours, it is worth considering, but call the lounge as others have suggested. As long as they are open they should offer you the full range of food and drink - but understandably, it will drop off close to closing time.

+1.

I'm 90% certain the lounge will be open, although the departure time for JQ23 has now been pushed back past the QF9 departure, so The lounge may in fact close.
Would be interested to know the answer too.

In the middle of summer, Northern European Airports such as HEL are likely to have natural light after 10pm for another 30 minutes or so ;)

Hi all,

Just jumping in to provide some clarification, the Melbourne Business Lounge does stay open for the JQ flight to Narita. Hope that helps!

Thank you Red Roo for the clarification :)

I probably would save the Qantas pass for another day, probably at one of those oversea lounges (Hong Kong or Singapore) :)
