A lot of thought and planning goes in to creating a new menu, and as some of the most frequent diners at our Business and Qantas Club lounges, I’d like to invite a few lucky AFFers to sample the new domestic lounge menus set to launch on 5[SUP]th[/SUP] June 2015.

Held at the Sydney Domestic Business Lounge on Thursday 4[SUP]th[/SUP] June 2015 between 12-2pm, we’re giving you the chance to get a preview of the new market inspirations with seasonal ingredients, winter warmer delights, new Plate of the Day recipes, and the latest in food trends from The Diner. There will also be an opportunity to road test a variety of coffee types as our Qantas baristas gear up for a national competition.

To get a place at the table:

- you must be available between 12-2pm this Thursday, and able to make your way to the Sydney Domestic Terminal (no need to be travelling or usually have access to Business Lounge)
- send me a private message with your name, Qantas Frequent Flyer number and 3 things that you think you’ll see on the new menus
- winners will be notified by 4pm (AEST) 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] June
- Admin have approved of this post, and along with moderators, are permitted to enter

If you’re not able to attend, please feel free to offer your 3 suggestions on this thread. You never know who will be reading and being inspired…

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

As much as I want to be there, I've already had a look at flights and from both BNE and OOL it's too expensive for me... and I'm saving my points for something else :p

Enjoy all, and I hope to come along to something else in the future!

As for what I think should be on a winter warmer menu... brussels sprouts would make my day, but probably not a lot of others ;)

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

I'm flying ADL to MEL at that time on Thursday.... maybe next time

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

What a great idea.

I hope the new menu doesn't get rid of the profiterole's that I look forward to on a Friday arvo in Perth QC!!!

You can't go wrong with a winter broth!!

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

It would be nice to see a bit of world cuisine, Lamb Kofta's with yoghurt and baklava for dessert!

Also interested to know about the new coffee, is it a new brand or just more flavours?

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

looking forward to it:

my weekly visits to J lounge & QCs in MEL & SYD haven't been promising over the last few months, the standard has slipped dramatically and I've been seeing things being served that look like they've been sourced from frozen packets at Coles (microwave pizza, old el paso tacos etc) as well as quinoa and red cabbage overload :)

Alas, as I mentioned earlier Red Roo, can't be with you on Thursday, but I wish all those best wishes in making the "final" table :D

Different salads and soups (minestrone, chicken & corn, carrot and cream) - lunchtime flights or even evening flights sometimes I want the healthier or lighter options (usually after having a largish lunch with client, or a "on the go" lunch which may not have been as healthy as I would normally partake).

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

Nice idea, but no can do.

Maybe you can send a small tasting selection to the HBA lounge :) ?

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

So tempting to give work the flick and fly up but I'm already flying on Sun/Mon so must let this one slip.

Looking forward to seeing what's new when I do fly a few days after the launch!!! :D

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

Hi Red Roo,

Thanks for for the chance to be invited.

I also would love to attend, but unfortunately will be in Melbourne on Thursday.

My suggestion is for a hearty vegetarian / bean dish, Mayne with brown rice??

Not sure if this is to everyone else's liking though.

Good luck to everyone, and enjoy.

TQ

Red Roo, here are some examples of memorable recent meals (not airline food)

Thanks for the opportunity, however it's at the wrong airport for me. If samples could be sent to MEL lounge I'd be happy to sample.:p

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

If someone is attending, can they ask about desserts on trans-con services? As in... why there aren't any?

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

A few non-egg based options for those of us who were born as weaker humans would be much appreciated!

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

What a tasty-treat!! Unfortunately, like most it seems, this Thursday is out for me (I'm in Adelaide) ... thanks anyway RedRoo.

Heaven forbid, but if Neil succumbs to a tummy ache, I could make the following Thursday ... just an idea... :p

Hope all who do make it have an enjoyable (and fulfilling) time - hopefully someone can post a "Trip Report"!!

Regards,

BD

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

I have the day off before my 2am :( Friday flight to KUL, so would love to head over to SYD for the day. Any chance you could help out with flights RedRoo? ;)

I would like to see hot/roast vegies separate to the main hot meal. So there is an alternative for the vegos. - On that matter, I would like the "vegetarian" soups not to be made with meat based stock, as many of them are made with.

But for a winter menu, can we have chocolate pudding and cream? Yum.

And more curries, please. Very winter warming.

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

How about ham toasties and "own-brand" liquorice allsorts?

Travel beckons I'm afraid ... will be in MEL tomorrow ring of the transitional First lounge catering before my flight east ...

Re: New Business and Qantas Club Lounge menu

More vegetarian options, and something substantial for dinners on weekends as well as weeknights...
Wish I could be there, have fun!
