Just returned from a flight Perth- Mia return, on my booking ( all flights QF ) it said " MEAL " on the LAX- MIA and return flight ( AA METAL ) didnt get a meal but had to PAY, if we had known we could have had something in LAX but time was running short so gave it a miss thinking we could get one on the flight, since getting back wrote 2 e-mails to Qantas still not got a call or e-mail, customer service for you eh?

The problem is that in some classes mia-lax on AA will still give you a meal... So they are technically correct, despite the fact it's very misleading...

Basically all you need to know about flying in the US in Y class is "sit down, shut up, and don't ask for a thing"
They have absolutely no idea about service, and I've found quite a few FA's on AA do not even attempt to hide their dislike for the airline.

I think this has been an ongoing issue. From what I have seen, the Qantas website represents pretty much all AA flights as including a meal. If they do not, Qantas should stop making that representation.

How long has it been since you have got back? Unless you have a direct contact at QF, E-mail is never a good way if you expect a quick response. I would either give them a call, or PM Red Roo on here. (View Profile: Red Roo - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community)

If you have booked on a QF flight number for the LAX-MIA, and it does indeed say Meal: Yes. Did you receive any food at all or was it a case of paying full stop for any food?

It is kind of similar to the Jetstar situation, however atleast with JQ, they tell you meals are available for purchase.

As far as i am aware this is a known issue - QF flights say meal but in economy domestic USA all meals/food is buy on board. If you purchased something on board I would ask QF for compensation for the cost. It is an easy problem for QF IT to fix. Until they do - keep sending in claim forms!

It's in how they code their flight data. I guess Qantas default to "M".

Here's the same AA flight with QF codeshare showing on Expert Flyer:

QF:

L: Lunch, M: Meal, G: Food and Beverage For Purchase
(The codes are sequenced across the Cabins - First, Business, Economy)
