Qantas Club - extra guests

I am a Qantas Club member and I will be travelling to Singapore from Perth on 1 June 12 with 2 other friends. I am hoping to be able to use the Qantas Club and if I speak nicely they just might let the 3 of us in. Unfortunately I have not been very successful in the past. Wondering if any members have any suggestions which might help. Jadake.

They are only leniant for families where someone has WP in my experience. Your best bet is to purchase a guest pass. You say you have tried to bring a second person in previously so it could be a viable option for you?

Last weekend I went up to the QP with 2 guests and when they scanned my BP, they waved us all through. I said to them "I'm only entitled to one guest but I have a friend in there who is going to guest in the other" and the (boy) dragon told me not to worry and all three of us should just head straight in.

Still over that one.

IME, ask nicely, but obviously without any sort of expectation. I have found they are usually fairly flexible, provided you don't go in as a DYKWIA...
Alternatively your friend could do what a friend of mine once did, he went to the lounge dragons (angels?) and said he didn't have membership, but his friend who is a member is already in the lounge, which was true, but the lounge dragon wouldn't have known that. I got quite a surprise when I looked up and saw him walking across as I was going to be heading over to the front desk to let him in once I had finished my drink.

Thanks Harvyk. I will give it another try. I was told once before to say there was already a member in the Club willing to sign my extra guest in but I don't like doing that. I have thought about going inside myself and speaking to a businessman obviously travelling alone to see if he would be willing to sign in my extra visitor in. Do you think this would acceptable or would that be inappropriate?

I have occasionally asked for permission to take a second guest in and so far have always been OKed. The key is to just ask nicely and hope you don't get a dragon in a bad mood.

You could always post on the June meetings thread, when it is opened, and see if any other AFF member is on the flight and could guest the extra in for you.

I even managed to bring a friend traveling on VA into the QP in BNE. We were heading to the same place for the same reason. Just different airlines. Very generous all things considered.

Domestic? If so the guest doesn't even have to be travelling.

Family flying in July (Domestic), there will be 2 adults pax in Business, 2 Adult pax in whY and 3 child pax (all under 8) also in whY

Knowing the above, will it be possible to get all pax into the domestic business lounge / QP...?

I am hoping I am reading this correctly off the Qantas website, hence in our situation above, all pax will gain entry...?

Qantas Lounges welcome you when travelling together with your family. In addition to your normal guest allowance you may also bring up to two children, between ages 4 and 17, into lounges operated by Qantas. Children aged 3 years or under are not counted as guests for the purpose of determining the number of guests of the member. If you are travelling with more than two children, the Qantas lounge manager will try to accommodate them, subject to reviewing the space available in the lounge.

• Children of Qantas Club members aged 18 years and over are counted as a guest of a member if they don't have their own membership.
• The service of alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 years (21 years for USA) is not permitted.
• Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult when visiting any lounge, except in the United States of America, where all persons under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by a person aged 21 years or older.

QF have removed the relevant info from their site but my recollection ( I could be wrong) is that J class passengers do not have any guest entitlement. The children can be admitted under the family policy but the adult whY passengers cannot be guested in.

Shintaro, I reckon, technically the children would have to be those of the pax flying J, the 2 in J could guest the 2 flying Y but I think if the children were of your "guests" they wouldn't qualify, but having said that a) would they care? and b) would they really be checking the child tickets anyway to see if they were children of the J pax?

From what I understand is that a business ticket allows one guest, "normal guest" and the Qantas site says this

In addition to your normal guest allowance you may also bring up to two children, between ages 4 and 17, into lounges operated by Qantas

and also

Lounge Access and Eligibility - Domestic Business - Next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas or Emirates flight.
One guest allowed and does not need to be travelling.

???

If it is not possible then no big deal, but would be nice...!
