Made my first venture into the Qantas online mall today, buying some Apple products. Enabled all the cookies requested, all went OK.

However at the end, I realised that, as usual my Kaspersky anti-virus software had opened a 'secure browser window' for me to use the Qantas Cash card for payment. If I had my wits about me, I probably wouldn't have allowed the secure window to operate in this case.

I'm wondering if the more IT literate folk here could advise if they think that being in a 'secure browser window' may prevent the cookie tracking necessary for Qantas to track the sale and thus award points?

I have put an enquiry through the site but am not confident of a sensible answer (ie I'm expecting something generic). It also serves as a 'marker' if I have to somehow manually claim the points later.

The secure window shouldn't stop the cookie as a encryption only encrypts the data transmission between source and end point.

Cold sweat until the Qantas email comes through in 24-48 hours

I had an Apple Store purchase through the mall last weekend, only got the confirmation email yesterday.

Ive ordered using safari. I think you will still be OK as you have allowed cookies. But i dont have kapersky.

I received QF confirmation the day the goods were shipped that I purchased via online mall and points may take up to 30 days to credit. I suppose to allow for returns etc.

BTW Apple products currently with TRS refund is cheaper than buying same in the US even though the AUD/USD pair has increased

I have made 3 purchases so far, and previous two with DJ were all good, points have received, but the recent one with Ebay was out of luck, no confirmation email.

Is there any way I can lodge a manual claim, velocity allows you to claim manually through the website, but I could not find anything from Qantas.:?:

OK, I just got the e-mail from Qantas Mall, saying points were OK, in 30 days after purchase (e-mail 4 days after purchase). Oh, happy days :)

I wonder whats in it for Qantas to get shoppers to go via Qantas onlinemall with cookies enabled rather than just going direct to the store's website.

Is there a kickback to Qantas to justify the extra points?.

It's a very flaky system, relying on cookies rather than just being able to add your FF number to the online order.

Still no email for my DJs purchase of over a week ago...

Usually it's the merchant who buys the points off Qantas; a major income source for Qantas these days. I imagine it's the same here, but a bit of a circuitous route to get punters to 'appreciate' the Qantas Mall. And maybe bonus from Qantas to get punters used to using the mall ( like me ).

Qantas would be collecting a referral fee for the referral through an affiliate network. They then issue points to the shopper, based on the cookie which is linked to the FF number.

No emails for my Ebay either after almost 2 weeks, I think I'd better give up, they even don't provide a link to manual claim.

There's a Contact Us link at the very bottom of the page which looks like it might have an option for online mall queries.

no email here for eBay purchases either.

Didn't even know you were supposed to get an email from the mall???

Well my points from David Jones arrived 30 days to the day as promised. However they only gave me 5 pt/$ rather than 10/$....
That's annoying. I wonder if that means the bonus points are credited separately after the promotion has finished.

Hopefully won't take repeated phone calls to customer service to get them to post.

Same here. Will wait for 2nd DJ's purchase points to arrive then lodge query with Qantas mall.
