Hi.

Just wondering if anyone can clarify what the policy is for access to BA lounges at Heathrow for Qantas Club (Bronze) members, as I have had access in the past no problem on BA flights.

Here's what happened:

In transit through Heathrow Terminal 5 to Istanbul (Sept 23 2011), access to BA lounge no problem.

Arrive at Heathrow on BA flight from Prague (Oct 14 2011), go to Arrivals Lounge, access denied.

Arrive at Heathrow terminal 3 for QF10 to Mel (Oct 16 2011) initally told no access as only flights to Sydney were eligible, then different person grants me access, but tells me policy has changed recently.

Qantas Club members with Bronze or Silver status are unable to access oneworld alliance airline lounges with the exception of British Airways (Terrace and Executive Club Lounges only) and American Airlines[SUP]®[/SUP] lounges (Admirals Lounges only) which can be accessed as part of our partner airline agreement.

Is this only for QF flights???

QC member + guest can access BA or AA (or QC) lounges on departure. Next onward flight must be on BA/AA/QF.

No arrivals lounge access (ie. arrive on QF but onward not on AA/BA/QF then no access).

re: [QP mem] Refused access BA LHR T5 [Confirmed: no "Galleries" Access for QP]

I don't think arrivals access is part of the QP membership benefits, however it seems odd the dragon has issues with you heading into the lounge before QF10.

re: [QP mem] Refused access BA LHR T5 [Confirmed: no "Galleries" Access for QP]

Are you allowed arrivals lounge access if you're a WP in Y?

No, arrivals lounges are not OW lounges in terms of access rules, similar to the domestic J lounges in that regard: + London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge - Eligible Qantas customers include First and Business Class only. CX are slightly more generous but still not overly so with their HKG arrivals lounge Arrivals Lounge. Eligible for ow EM travelling on CX/KA and has final destination is HKG

Lounge access was granted as it should have been - the LHR BA arrivals lounge has not been a QP benefit for as long as I have been a member.

Qantas Platinums are permitted access to the BA Arrivals lounge in T5 when arriving from Australia on BA or QF.

Lounge access was granted as it should have been - the LHR BA arrivals lounge has not been a QP benefit for as long as I have been a member.

I believe the reference to an arrivals lounge in the above link refers to the AA lounge which, for QF, is only for F and J passengers.

I'm confused. Why was DCFF1961 denied access to the BA lounge in T3 on departure of QF10?

Hi,
On 2 Jan 2012 I was also refused access to the BA Galleries Lounge in Heathrow T5 (on the left after security). I am a QC Bronze member and was travelling on a BA flight. I contacted Qantas who gave the below response by email. If I read the BA website correctly, I would only have access to Jersey, Newcastle T3 or Manchester in the whole of the UK. Can anyone help shed light on this, or is this really the case?
Qantas has an agreement with British Airways that allows Qantas Club members to access British Airways Terraces and Executive Club lounges worldwide when they are travelling onward on a Qantas or British Airways service. Read about partner lounge access by clicking on the link on the Qantas Club webpage.
The only exception to this arrangement is at Terminal 3 at Heathrow, where Qantas has a separate arrangement with British Airways to allow Qantas Club members departing on a Qantas service to access to the British Airways Galleries lounge at T3. This is because since 2009, all Qantas services departing from Heathrow operate from T3.
This arrangement, however, only applies at T3 at Heathrow for Qantas operated services. At all other ports worldwide, including T5 at Heathrow, the partner agreement with British Airways applies, meaning that Qantas Club members only have access to British Airways Terraces or Executive Club lounges. As the British Airways lounge in T5 is a Galleries lounges, Qantas Club members do not have access, even when travelling on a British Airways service.

This long thread explains it:

[Confirmed] No LHR T5 Galleries access for QP before BA/QF flights

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread.

Just wanted to know if I will have access to the BA Terraces Club business lounge at Gatwick when I am flying on QF8010 (EK metal). I am Qantas platinum.[h=1][/h]

Not when they turn up with their same sex partner they're not!!

I know a case where there was a terse conversation with a lawyer and a senior BA rep................they were allowed in.

What is the definition of family ? I am sure it is outlined....are the pommies bound by any QF definition?

Highly unlikely. However, as a Qantas Platinum, you will have access to EK's lounge at Gatwick.

That's a very old post of mine and I very much doubt if it's still the case.

There was no mention of family regardless, however.

This particular case was a few weeks ago, the issues was the same sex, not the kids.

Shows the vulgarity of some.

Oh excellent! I was regretting booking Gatwick instead of Heathrow because I thought I wouldn't have any lounge access.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I post this here..

first some background info..

Early in January I booked a flight from Sydney to Stuttgart on BA via Singapore and London in Y.

Reason of booking it with BA instead of QF was the routing options provided by QF. Flying out they would've flown me to Frankfurt and put me on a train for the final part of the trip and on the way back it would've gone via London, Dubai and Melbourne. So a longer trip with more stops and stop locations I don't particularly want. On top of that QF was $500 more expensive.

The outbound flight was in March and I got lounge access in Singapore and in London - no issues at all. PS, I'm a Qantas Club Silver Member. Inbound flight was in April and as you can guess I wasn't very happy with the late changes to lounge access and point earn and the very late announcement of this.
I wrote to Qantas to express my disappointment. I received a call from them and was very pleased with the response I received.

As requested Qantas agreed to refund me the $$$ paid for my Qantas Club Membership - well obviously the prorated value of the remaining membership (which is close to 3 years). I had told them that not having QC access flying to Europe via Asia reduces the value of the QC membership to a point where it's not worth having.

They also asked me to call after completing my trip and promised to credit frequent flyer points at the advertised earn rate at the time of booking - points haven't posted yet but I don't expect any issues.
