Hi all,

With a HKG/PVG trip upon me in a week's time I've been thrown a curve ball in having to book a restaurant to meet the 'mother-in-law' for lunch in HKG during the week:!:

So.....given I'm dealing with locals here any suggestions to impress would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to bring my own flavour to things I'd be thinking along the lines of: relaxed but mature atmosphere, 'old-school' service and quality food (local or foreign) and Kowloonish area.

Thank you:D

/old school/

Peninsula Hotel? (high tea)

/off/

Seriously, probably not something they'd do regulalrly, but nice and certainly "old-school"

Definetely, it's my back-up and along the lines of what I'm looking for but slightly pricey:)

Sorry this is not Kowloonish but quite easily reached via the MTR,
Cuisine cuisine at IFC - chinese food, view from island towards the harbour, may be a bit pricey, will depend on what is ordered..... plus the obligatory 10% charge.....and more tips....
The quality is similar to Lung King Heen (foodwise) although service at LKH is extremely good.
All in all, Cuisine cuisine - good food, ambience, reasonable prices, nice view

How was Cuisine Cuisine in the end?

Very nice - attentive service and beautiful food in a classy atmosphere.

All in all a successful campaign :)
I must try this restaurnt the next time I'm in HK. the pics are mouth watering!
Cuisine Cuisine ? An Elevation to Traditional Cantonese Cuisine

Honeymoon stopover in HK soon.

Is Cuisine Cuisine THE place to try for the ultimate HK food experience?

Any other suggestions? I would like a harbour view and fine dining :)
Harbour Views and Fine Dining, I suggest Hutong, google them they are part of the Aqua group I think, AMAZING views and food too is great!

For local fair I would suggest - Hutong or Lung King Heen

For non-local - Caprice

I lived there for five years and visit countless times and I still don't know what the ultimate food experience is, there are just so many!

There was a famous goose resturant on the island that did stand out at times. It was on three levels.

my local was a 3000 seat resturant, excellent dimsum, in the new world centre Kowloon.

Such a great city

Would that be Yung Kee Yung Kee Restaurant: History we always have a meal here when in HKG.
