The Joseph is very good and looks great on the table. Best I've done for the Show recently is $50 from Langtons Carpe Diam.

There is sparkling shiraz and there is sparkling shiraz. The Seppelt Show is very good but at $100 it would want to be. With most sparkling, you don't get what you don't pay for. There's some good sparkling shiraz from Rutherglen if you like a bit of body from the hot dry climate at a...

I've had the CH 2009 Grenache and it's definitely worth the asking price. It won't get any better but not past it.

CCC would be my first choice and BB second - I would have bought both but both OOS so saved my $. No interest in the rest.

BL Cab needs a bit of time and cellars for a long time. At $50 it's too expensive. At <$30 it's great value IMO. I have some of most years from 2006 in my cellar but haven't paid the asking in recent years. It used to be a good buy on discount from Dan's on Wynnsday release.

Head wines are generally good wines. I'd buy if the price was 25%+ discounted (travelling O/s at present so can't buy anything - suitcase filling with Rioja at present)

I don't think any d'Arenberg wines are quite what they once were and the range is astoundingly huge which always worries me, but I'd buy Dead Arm at $40 every time. I also snapped up the '14 grenache just to see if it's any good given the pricing was reasonable.

I bought a magnum of 2012 Brookmam Merlot but haven't opened it yet. I've a bit of aged Clarendon Hills via Langton's auctions in the past and never had an issue so I haven't been in a rush to open the magnum.

    Corked or heat damaged?

    Vinomofo Wine Deals

I would have had thousands of cork bottled wines over the years with very few cork tainted and I rarely drink a wine under 5 years old and most 8-10 years +. I've had plenty of dried out, breaking corks which can impact oxidisation etc and plenty of wine that's over the hill or been light/heat...

I've had a bit of Vineyard Road wine without ever buying any (long story). It's a FABAL brand which was recently taken over so I expect that's why they are offloading "old" stock. The Barossa shiraz is OK but I wouldn't pay $30. It's probably worth $10-$15 but I don't drink much $15 wine and...

    Sparkling (Shiraz or Red) Recommendations?

It's a bloody good sparkling shiraz - I got a few at the Langton's Carpe Diem for $55 a while back and I'd buy again. 1701176410 I'm a fan of all the Anderson sparkling

I've tried to like Mount Mary. I love the story of Dr John Middleton and particularly loved his spat with Robert Parker. It's a polarising wine and the few vintages I've tried just haven't done it for me. I'm up for a discount bottle to try again though on the off change I can score one on VM.

Opinions will vary and we choose what/who we place more faith in. I generally don't buy wine to drink in the short term. I don't buy much SA or Vic 2020 wine but obviously people can like and buy what suits them. I just have less faith in the vested interests in the industry than the...

It's not my rating, it's someone who publishes personal ratings from personal tasting for "members", 2021 is rated 8/10. I don't have the 2022 Barossa red rating as yet (above was a typo : 2022 should read 2021 (now edited)

The rating I use is a 6 out of 10 for 2020. It's a private source, with no industry vested interest. 2019 and 2021 are 8/10. By comparison the 2011 Barossa vintage was rated 5/10. The 2020 may be a decent version of a pretty good wine as was 2011 in Steady's opinion but for me given I...

Saw that. Not quite as cheap at $17 for a 1/2. I'd probably buy that if it was 6 bottles rather than 12.

It's 2020 vintage. I haven't had the 2020 Backwell but 2020 Barossa wasn't a good vintage so Id leave that one alone.

I bought a case of the 2012 from VM and tried from 2016 to 2023 and it was ordinary. The RRP was ridiculous. The VM price was something like $40 (not positive about the price) from memory and it was over priced. Just my view and as we know it's subjective but I vowed not to buy it again. I...

Old Block is a good wine but $160 rrp is steep. $79 is probably not bad but 2017 isn't a great Barossa year - at least not as good as 2016 or 2018.
