Hard to say, digging back into my poor memory, ISTR getting free seat selection with SQ in economy back in 2015 based on platinum. The current page doesn't list seat selection for SQ either. But mixing up VA1 and VA2 is a big factor. So, I'm going to say inconclusive based on my experience. but...
