Amex Platinum $200 "Dining credit" towards a list of Global Restaurants

Great news this has been extended. I doubt they could come up with a better offer dollar for dollar given the typical interests of the average Plat card holder!

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

The flight will still be running first week of November for sure. They'll give more notice than 4 weeks.

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

Just did ICN - TPE - SYD Overall a very good experience so it's a shame they've reduced availability. Had 10 hrs between flights though and left the airport to go into Taipei - seemed a fun city. Lounge in T2 was horrible though, windowless, hardly any toilets. There's also an apparently...

Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

Booked EK F on this route with QF points for April. Assuming it'll be canned by then which is a shame, is it probable they'll offer to switch me to QF J and get a points difference refund from QFF? Or will they just cancel given it's a points ticket? Wouldn't mind being switched to QF F SIN -...

    New Amex statement credits

Does anyone know if the $200 Australian/overseas dining credits will be back again next year? The offer is due to end 31 Dec 2024 with nothing apparently replacing it...

Recent Experiences with QF’s new terminal transfer at SYD

So does the arrival flight not matter? I’ve done seamless transfer a couple of times now but can’t recall if they checked my arrival boarding pass (and it didn’t matter as it was QF both times). Should add they’re separate PNRs too…

Recent Experiences with QF’s new terminal transfer at SYD

Arriving on China Airlines on QFF booked ticket. Not OW but partner airline. Transferring to QF domestic. Can I use Seamless Transfer?

Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

Getting a lot of phantom availability for Velocity awards. Is this a problem for anyone else? Looking at LHR to MEL/SYD/BNE for late July this year (wasn't expecting anything at all) and seats aero seems to show multiple day Velocity availability in J but nothing is actually available on the...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

What lounges are people doing pre flight out of BKK in J? Qatar seems best but not open til 16:30. Is EK fairly close by to spend time in before?

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Any updates on whether this is changing back to QF9? Seems like things are clear for now between Israel and Iran...

Want to fly PER-SYD in December but the only reward seats go via another capital city

If you have Amex membership rewards then it's around 20k BA Avios (which is the same currency as Qatar now) in business across to Perth from the east coast. One of the sweet spots on their award chart!

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

You can search it on QF, you just need to know how to get around the bugs. Adding a stop before DXB on the multi city usually will solve the problem.

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

Yeah this is a major bug on the website. Annoying it doesn't get fixed though selfishly it probably means fewer people redeem these seats. To fix this go to the multi-city tool and have your trip originate somewhere else - often London airports have reasonable availability, Amsterdam isn't bad...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

One thing I don't understand - why do people who visit this thread regularly still seem to order the steak? It's very hard to get right even with the best execution (though have had good ones on SQ J and EK F before) but Qantas seem to do them particularly bad.

What happens if you tick “yes” to respiratory symptoms when you check in?

Okay John, submit your n=1 study to the New England Journal of Medicine, I’m sure they’ll be fascinated. Not sure why you’re adopting such an odd tone for a post that wasn’t addressed to you. I’m not concerned with what people do, just passing comment. If people want to wear an N95 to the...

What happens if you tick “yes” to respiratory symptoms when you check in?

If you have respiratory symptoms a properly fitted N95 should protect others around you; if you're worried about picking something up then the same applies for your personal protection. Of course on longer flights it becomes more of a challenge for eating/drinking etc but for the short domestic...

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

The arc still looks like it's going towards de-escalation. Iran really don't want a war, Israel's allies really don't want one either. Think Netanyahu and Ben Gvir could see advantages in a war but they're already on shaky terms with their allies. Granted sometimes we get war even when both...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Hmm...actually whilst I wouldn't redeem them I can see why some of those CR+ economy return awards might appeal to some. Bengaluru for 79k, Bali for 57k, Tokyo for 95k, LA for 92k...these are all quite competitive for flyers who don't mind sitting at the back of the plane. They're all likely...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Sure they're profitable (not sure how profitable they were) but Qantas extracts considerably more FF revenue per passenger than DL/UA/AA. This is from a Forbes article. It generates proportionally far more revenue than other airlines on this list if we ignore Southwest who aren't really...
