    Safety while travelling alone

Hey there p & T, I did not understand this post. Are you saying there are 30,000 shooting deaths per year in the USA? WOW!!

Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Perfect wine for me (being in a small place on the Sunshine Coast) was tonite a Schild Barossa GSM. Purchased two bottles at the local independent, noticed different caps, and saw they were a 2019 and 2021. Obviously, had the 2019 first. Nice drop. The 2021 is truly solid, but unremarkable.

Lifemiles - ponderings from a veteran

Hi there all, just engaging, and got into a thread about Lifemiles changes for 2024. My credentials are that I have amassed/bought many millions of LM points over the years, and have redeemed these predominantly for J travel, perhaps around 200 or so international legs (you lose count) :) I...

    Lifemiles “Improvements” for 2024

I find the best way to find LM seats is using seats.aero to find possibles, then LM itself to see which are real.

What are you reading right now?

Any personal rant is valid. And I "get" this one. Random reply, done with the aim of distraction, is to share my current book challenge. I read some stuff by Keith Laumer many years ago. The "Retief" series. Suddenly, after about twelve decades, I decided I wanted to read these again. Sure...

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Another one. Just taking normal photos and changing the colour scheme. I love this thing as I know my cat, so I can see him in all his essence despite the crazy colours. If you want, send me a photo of your master, tell me the sort of colours you want, and will do something up for you. I assume...

The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Hi there Nimo, I have not done status runs for years, so my advice will be very sub-par. But it gives at least an idea and a baseline that can then be improved.... Melbourne to Christchurch can be had at the moment for about $800 in discount business, bringing 80 SC. Do the return in discount...

    Old Alliance Planes

All other factors equal, I would choose to fly a 30 year-old airframe over a brand new one any day of the week. Cheekily, can I suggest that 30 plus years of service would also provide stress and strains on a pilot? :) Just of interest, how do you select your "handful of international...

    Qantas Workers Go on Strike

Yes, "ambit claim". I struggle a bit with my thoughts on strike things. On the one hand, I understand that some employees may feel they need to do this to get heard by management. But in the case of airlines, the only pressure that employees seem to be able to bring is to disrupt flights...

Checked luggage in Australia - why so long?

Having travelled a bit, I have learnt that your bag will appear on the carousel exactly when you least expect it. Every. Single. Time. To correctly describe or understand the processes involved would probably require Douglas Adams to be brought back and asked to write about it.

    Qantas Workers Go on Strike

I heard on the radio that the engineers are demanding an immediate 15% pay increase, with two more 10% jumps over the next two years, so a total wage hike of 35% within 24 months. Have no idea what sort of money they make, but that seems to me to be a ballsy ask?

The Private room/1st class lounge: Whats your perfect design?

Exactly, each to their own. But how hard is it to cater to both? Have a dining area with part open-air and sociable, the other part secluded/private. Only requires a slender partition.

    Separate tickets

Despite all the well-intentioned posts so far, I suspect that anyone who does a once-off post and who then does not bother to engage with the help that is offered, is probably not someone who will actually benefit from all the great advice given here.

The Private room/1st class lounge: Whats your perfect design?

Hey there, sorry to be so newbie, but what is "TPR"? I get this thread is about ideal F lounges. I have only been to a few, but as per the OP question "design your ultimate First lounge", I think the answer is not just one. As even a single person (like myself) can have different desires on...

What I ate today - the food thread

Halfway through what ended up about 6 (?) hours of un-rushed food and wine one lazy lunch/afternoon. Good, simple things are fantastic. I super-rate Bvlgatta :)
