Alan Joyce to leave Qantas immediately

    Takes ALL the cash though.

New Qantas ads showing in the lounge

To be fair, the standard has been cough for some time now. As noted above, SYDi J lounge case in point. Empty promises are Qantas's specialty.

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

More coverage in the papers this morning: "Anthony Albanese has refused to say whether he held discussions with Qantas boss Alan Joyce over the blocking of more flights to Australia from Qatar Airways..." "The suggestion from Mr Albanese that the Qatar Airways application was rejected because...

    Refurbished Auckland lounge

Did anyone really expect Qantas would deliver on its promise?

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

From another article in AFR 31 Aug: "Meanwhile, Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones sought to roll back his remarks from Monday that the “national interest” in blocking more Qatar Airways flights was to protect Qantas’ profits." So that makes it six different reasons now. None of them remotely...

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

So the argument is that, because I can find some people who don't like other airlines like SQ and NZ, then QF is A-OK and let's give them a free pass.

Surely you cannot go over 20L if it is on top of your regular cabin bag?

    Another grubby QANTAS lounge experience...

It truly boggles the mind, when there are so many better options.

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

Now, every time I hear the word "Qantas", I am sickened. That's how much AJ has damaged the brand in my eyes. (Pre-AJ, they were just a little bit cough.)

    Best Premium Economy SYD-SIN

I wouldn't spend the money on PE on SYD-SIN, don't see the value in it, but agree that Scoot Plus is a very viable and comfortable option on their B787s which does provide value for money.

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

And more coverage in the Oz this morning: "Mr Joyce only added to the confusion with a bizarre explanation for Qantas’ opposition to its Oneworld partner’s bid for more capacity. "An industry insider told The Australian that Qatar’s application for more flights had been signed off by the...

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

There do not appear to be any considerations beyind protecting Qantas. Certainly, Minister King has not said anything intelligible, just a confusing and contradictory series of potential justifications like "climate change."

Singapore Airlines Business Class Meals & Menus

I find chicken so boring when I am paying for a meal eg in J or at a restaurant. Will make an exception for the chicken satay though!

    Close call @ Changi

Fair enough but only a miserable 15SC in 3K and on a separate ticket. Scoot, for example, is as low as $70 and with five flights a day there is plenty of scope for service recovery if there is a problem. [edit] And Scoot operates from SIN T1.

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

More coverage today (in the Oz): "A key business group has weighed into the debate over the government’s decision to block Qatar Airways from operating more flights into Australia, saying the move would cost the tourism industry an estimated $788m a year. In a letter to Transport Minister...

    Close call @ Changi

I'm surprised at the lengths people go to fly Jetstar for no point whatsoever, other than the aggravation. And then after multiple bad experiences, they give Jetstar another go.

Best Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance in the new COVID World?

$515 seems really cheap. I just checked and it came out to $2000 but I selected Worldwide as we (couple) will be doing quite a few countries including US (work and private travel) in the next year. That's with a $250 excess. Did you limit it to just Thailand, or what was your trick otherwise...

    AFR's Joe Aston goes BAM!

There is no getting away from the fact that the Qantas product is poor and way behind its former international peers, weak covid excuses notwithstanding, while its fares remain amongst the highest if not the highest. And if one requires even more reasons to not give Qantas one's hard-earned...
