20% Reduction in Platinum/Platinum One Retention Thresholds (July/Aug/Sept Membership Year Ends)

I can’t imagine there’d be that many non travelling guests going into domestic lounges. For the time and cost of travelling to the airport unless living nearby you could get a much nicer meal elsewhere probably with spare change. I won’t miss non travelling guests but there are other...

Qantas double status credits OR double points offer [book 23-28 March 2023]

Hopefully it will credit early this week. It can take a few business days or so.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Nice. The F Cabin is great.

Any chance for a paid upgrade to Business Class at check-in for an international flight with Qantas?

QANTAS may oversell economy. If there are not sufficient points upgrade requests to fill Business then they may upgrade solo Platinum One or Chairman's Lounge members for free or more rarely Platinum travellers. With many points accumulated during lockdown and strong demand to travel...

    QF 93 Mel/Lax A380

Like I said they had to make some compromises to squeeze extra seats in.

    QF 93 Mel/Lax A380

I found the old J seats fine. In some ways they were better and seemed less cramped than the new fitout. Not saying that I don’t like the new seats, but to switch from 2-2-2 to 1-2-1 there has to be some compromises if not drastically reducing the number of seats.

    QF 93 Mel/Lax A380

The A380 is a much better plane than the 787 imo. I probably would have considered the swap as a positive change.

Qantas double status credits OR double points offer [book 23-28 March 2023]

Points Upgrades are fine and will not change the PNR, but as you said you will earn SC and DSC on the fare you booked (Business) regardless of whether or not the upgrade is successful.

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

It’ll mean one more domestic trip than I otherwise would have needed to do, but probably wanted to do anyway. The SCs will still help for next membership year.

    Sydney to Hobart service

Top tier champagne? Are you thinking of the Chairman’s Lounge in SYD or the F cabin on QF1?

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I’m expecting reality will probably hit and I’ll end up booking Y. Also I can’t justify booking J for domestic unless it’s part of a status run

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

My strategy is to try to achieve LTG then probably seek to switch to using points or BFOD J among the airlines I am happy to use if it is not too expensive for my long haul flying. I understand this wouldn’t suit everyone. LTG does require a lot of flying to achieve and Green Tier alone will...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

You can aim to meet the requirements for Green Tier towards the end of your membership year if you want.

Qantas A220 to do trips to Asia opening new opportunities (rumor)

And that is a problem? Why fly direct when you can fly indirect? I am on the East Coast and I have never flown direct to NZ even though I could have. QF provides more SC for flying indirect.

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

If you are trying to get to LTG and don’t yet have it Green Tier is definitely worth it imo

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

If there are less passengers than usual then they can carry more freight cargo.

    B737 USB power

Using official Apple cables charging works for me with the latest iPhone albeit slowly.

    B737 USB power

I have the latest iPhone and it does charge albeit slowly using the USB port. If I am using the AC port for the iPad I don’t have much choice unless I have access to the neighbours AC socket and they are not using it.

    B737 USB power

I generally use an iPad on flights. My iPhone charges albeit slowly from the USB port. If there’s no AC port or if it is not working, I can fall back to using my battery pack to charge my iPad if needed.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

For all the hype of Project Sunrise, if it’s not priced much the same as flying with a stop along the way I’m likely to fly with the stop to save a bit of money more often than not, I suspect.
