You just do a test booking and turn the toggle on. It will sort of tell you if it's available for that booking. Otherwise a quick test is if it shows "Free" or something low like $20, instead of the usual night cost. If it doesn't show those, then it's not available.

Well our last block of time in Tokyo was 18m2 at the Ibis Styles Ginza East, so it'll still be an upgrade! haha. Plus as you mentioned, good location for transport. Sadly despite the suite they have, you're unable to use the SNU there.

Sadly only the suites at the Osaka Swissotel and Tokyo Pullman, plus a bunch of rural Grand Mercures are available to upgrade at in Japan. I probably wouldn't have hesitated if it was available at the suite at Mercure Hibiya! I think at the time, the Pullman in Tokyo just looked like a nice...

Mercure Tokyo Hibiya that is, the Haneda one does look nice though. Pullman was just a way to use the SNU but no longer feel that's a worthy option, so we'll probably go back to Mercure Haneda now to finish off the trip.

Yeah an interesting point that. Even when i was in Japan earlier this year as a Silver +, i was being upgraded at 3/4 accor hotels i stayed at, the 4th not having anything higher. So going in as plat would be pretty nice i imagine. Sofitel Melbourne did look quite good too!
