Will responsible lending law changes make credit card churning easier?

I don't disagree about the "poor sods caught in the cycle of ever increasing debt" bit but because of those people not being more responsible others get punished because they cant get cards when they are able to handle the extra credit in their financial life. Lots of discussion on another...

    New Credit Card When Retired

Interesting. So in theory (in the UK at least) you could have multiple cards and not use them and your credit score would go down. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. 🤔

    New Credit Card When Retired

Only problem is that there are not too many cards out there with biggish sign on bonus points which I need for Krisflyer miles. For example Amex have slim pickings atm unless you want to pay a $1450 annual fee which I don't. My credit score is pretty good but it is surprising how much credit...

    New Credit Card When Retired

I am eligible for the card as I have a bank issued Amex (Westpac) so my application would be treated as new. I can't apply however, as my income is not at least $100,000 and even if it was I'm not sure that I want to pay an annual fee of $1450 despite the 90,000 bonus points and $450 travel...

    New Credit Card When Retired

I understand your point about holding onto your existing cards but some of us need those juicy bonus points as its the only way for us to amass enough points to sit in the pointy end and access lounges etc. Up until now I have never cancelled a card to make a new application easier for approval...

    New Credit Card When Retired

Very informative, esp the bit about available discretionary income. Hopefully someone who has the capacity to change how retiress income is treated for CC applications will sit up and take notice.

    World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys

We are doing a half day Apt railway trip late October from Queenstown. Unfortunately time won't allow us to do the full trip from Queenstown to Strahan. Thanks to the OP for pointing out the SBS program. I'll be catching up on the SBS on demand app.

    New Credit Card When Retired

My circumstances are similar. In 6 years of retirement I have been successful in a few new cards but it can be hard work. I've been knocked back twice for a St George card and it frustrates the hell out of me because I want those 200,000 sign on bonus points. My credit score is in the 800's...

    Excess Points

I could never have too many points. I'm still hopeful of a US trip in 2022 which was to be 2021 except for Covid. I have enough Qantas points for 2 in J one way but struggling to get enough Krisflyer miles for the other half so now have enough time to get those points and start booking a year...

Best Airbus A380 memories (so far)

No, in my FB post I said there were no cabin crew around and even so it would be very unlikely that any of my 45 Facebook friends would dob me/them in.

Best Airbus A380 memories (so far)

In 2017 I was on an EK A380 in J from Dubai to Auckland on my way back home. It was a 16 hour flight and I was feeling a bit restless so decided to have a couple of drinks at the onboard bar. After a while there was just the cabin crew guy behind the bar and myself. He kindly let me swap...

    Best companion card for Amex?

The Qantas Premier Platinum card is a good one for sign on bonus points and ongoing earn rate of 1:1. I just completed my 6 months sign on bonus for 120,000 points but I think that promotion has finished and another started for less. Only downside is dealing with Citibank who can be stubborn...

Do Tasmanian Woolworths customers really prefer the "Frequent $hopper Club"?

+1 and I both have Frequent Shopper cards and have received no information about the change to ER let alone any bonus offers.

Do Tasmanian Woolworths customers really prefer the "Frequent $hopper Club"?

Ditto, it got my attention. The more I think about this the more I think Tasmanian's will not be happy about the change given the reduction in points by half. It remains to be seen if the QFF points will offset the reduction.

Do Tasmanian Woolworths customers really prefer the "Frequent $hopper Club"?

As a long time Frequent Shopper member (and FF points collector) I don't like it, mainly because the cash back on points will be 50% of what we now enjoy. I still get Qantas or Krisflyer FF points when shopping at Woolworths and BWS anyway using credit cards.

Do Tasmanian Woolworths customers really prefer the "Frequent $hopper Club"?

I haven't heard a thing about that. Can you share how you became aware of it? +1 and I are both members of the FF club and nothing has reached my in-box.

Will we see the big Amex sign on Bonus Points again?

No worries with Qantas sign on bonuses but I'm ok in that department - its the non Qantas points/miles I'm after.

Will we see the big Amex sign on Bonus Points again?

I'm a fan of Amex cards as they often offer good value, although less than in the past. I currently have a Westpac card that earns 1:1 Krisflyer points (if I convert there). I'm looking to boost my Krisflyer points through a generous sign on bonus offer but Amex are offering very little at the...

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

Mattg, I think this is the same time (2015) we shared the return flight back to Sydney from Johannesburg. I think you are referring to your outbound trip. This was my one and only 747 flight. It was thanks to you that +1 and I were upstairs and it was most enjoyable. You assisted me to get...
