Complete newbie - is it worth it?

You can double your points as in my last post if you duplicate the card sign on's with your wife - subject to income criteria.

Complete newbie - is it worth it?

My advice would be: 1. Apply for an Amex card that has a large sign on bonus, earns at least 1 point / $1 spend, and has an option to redeem the annual fee through travel credit 2. Apply for a Visa/MasterCard that you will need as back up to the Amex. Again go for a card that offers a big...

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

Try availability out of Hobart. Non-existant! ;) We usually need to search from Melbourne or Sydney and hope for a suitable connecting flight from Hobart.

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

Regarding some of the less than comlimentary comments about those of us earning points on the ground. We don't all have oportunities to travel overseas regularly. I would think that quite a few that do would be on employer paid flights and others paying for flights out of their own business...

    Fun at Qantas check in

Hmm... flying HBA-SYD-DXB-BCN in 3 weeks on connecting flights. Sounds like it might be an advantage checking in from a non international departure origin. Shouldn't be any issues with luggage over 40kg but might be coming home!

    Earning QFF points with Kayo

I'll check the fine print on Monday after the US Open and the AFL round and if no technicalities I'll do that.

    Earning QFF points with Kayo

I could do that. I have another e-mail address that I regularly use and 2 other credit cards.

    Earning QFF points with Kayo

In the June Qantas points balance e-mail there is a promotion for earning points by signing up to Kayo. You can get 1500 bonus points for signing up and then up to 150 points a month thereafter. It is for new customers only. This annoys me. I have been with Kayo since inception so I'll get...

Should I get a paid Travel insurance policy?

We're heading overseas in July and have already activated 2 cc policies by paying for travel. We still need to buy a seperate policy though because my mother in law is 88 y.o. and cc policies dont cover family members over 80.

Qantas disguises first class seats as $20 ‘cabin in the clouds’ on Airbnb

Could not agree more!! The long hours searching and stressing for a premium award seat that loyal Qantas frequent flyers go through and they hide available seats on Airbnb? Any wonder people like me have moved away to other programs such as Krisflyer?

How long until you are a "new" customer?

The article on 26/4 says: "Customers will generally be excluded from earning bonus points on a new credit card if they’ve been a previous customer with that bank – even if the credit card previously held is different to the one being applied for." I'm currently waiting on 80,000 bonus points on...

    Hobart Airport HBA expansion

Agreed. The COO of the Hobart Airport has an opinion piece in today's Mercury. He cites several reasons for not planning on airbridges: - The airlines dont like airbridges because of their tight turnaround times. Using stairs is quicker. - the cost of airfares would rise - the cost of the...

Option to Switch from Altitude Rewards to Qantas Points

Received an e-mail from Westpac outlining changes where a card holder can switch from Altitude Rewards to Qantas points and vice versa subject to terms and conditions. I don't know if this as another outcome of the banking royal commission but I would think it has to be a good thing if...

    EK416 Change of Aircraft

Just received notification that our SYD - DXB EK flight has now changed to the (original) A380 from the 777 in early July. I'm pretty happy about that as I prefer the J seats in the A380. It's 2 hours later departing but I can live with that as there is no stopover in BKK which means we arrive...

Apartments with Balcony Views in Sydney

With New Years Eve over and done with a group of us (4 couples) are talking about heading to Sydney next NYE to be amongst the celebrations. Being seniors though we prefer to watch the fireworks from the comfort of a balcony in a hotel or apartment. Booking early could help to get the right...

Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Signature: 150,000 bonus Amplify Points (expires 30/4/25)

My gut is that I haven't been approved and a letter will arrive sometime to that effect. I dont understand though as I have a reasonable income (although retired) with no debt and a very good credit score. I am a churner which may count against me. My current card is with ANZ and I spoke to...

Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Signature: 150,000 bonus Amplify Points (expires 30/4/25)

I got the conditionally approved text on 14/12. The message said applications are approved in 2 days. Within a day I had sent every possible document they asked for. As at 31/12 have heard nothing. I sent a couple of "status" texts and got back replies saying they were busy with lots of...

    Best time to Call QANTAS?

In my experience asking for a call back never worked because nobody called back. I have used the chat service a couple of times for non complex matters e.g a couple of days ago I wanted to know how many points to change the date of a reward flight and the answer was given quickly. A poster on...
