Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Sorry to hear that - Qantas are consistently shonky on this, as you'll see from multiple threads on here. We can vote with our feet but legal requirements would be better.......

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

My earlier post should have said a partial credit card charge-back to make things more clear. Clearly, the compensation needs to be commensurate with the fact that it was a downgrade on the domestic leg of an international flight and hence I don't want or expect a " free kangaroo route business...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Some of your points are fundamentally wrong, and I disagree with others: 1. Bestjet are the issuing agent for the ticket, but I would argue that the contract ultimately resides with Etihad as the airline that is delivering the service. They have fulfilled their end of the bargain by ticketing...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

I'm sorry (but not overly surprised!) to hear that....... I won't ever be using them again and am advising the same thing to anyone who asks.......

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

In summary - the overall responses have been VA - despite the lounge angel advising VA would definitely provide compensation, they have subsequently said "not our problem; contact Bestjet [as the ticket issuer]", knowing full-well that Bestjet are now in administration Bestjet Administrators -...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Lounge access is available to me anyway as a Velocity Gold, additional luggage allowance wasn't an issue, and the minor difference in points doesn't concern me overmuch - my issue was (and remains) that I paid for Business Class on that leg, was involuntarily downgraded to economy, and am being...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

The luggage claim has (eventually) been paid - almost two months after the paperwork was finalised, hence my increasing levels of concern given the total lack of communication from Etihad. I agree that it's totally a separate case, but wanted to wait until that was paid before pushing the...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

If I'd wanted to travel solely ADL-MEL in economy, I would have bought a Getaway ticket, not a Flexi Economy, given that the ticket was purchased 9 month in advance......... I didn't re-book in Flexi Economy, it's just what I got given (and is therefore presumably the VA standard procedure) for...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

They have ALSO taken nearly 6 weeks (and counting) to pay reimbursement for expenses incurred when my luggage was delayed for seven days on the outbound ADL-MEL-AUH-LHR leg of the same journey (arriving in the UK in the middle of winter with just hand luggage!). The signed agreement (Release and...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Etihad have just insisted via PM that the case is closed. I have requested that they re-consider and suggested that 20,000 Velocity points would be appropriate as this would cover a one-way upgrade on my next east-coast domestic flight, directly replacing the flight on which I was downgraded......

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

I realise it's not worth a large proportion of the overall fare but, as said before, I didn't get what I paid for...... and if everyone continues to let the BS about "we downgraded you to a flexible economy fare which costs more than your business class ticket, so there's no refund due" go...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Initial response was that the flexible economy fare that VA assign to you as part of their procedure for an in-lounge downgrade costs more than the discount business fare, so no refund due.... I've pointed out that the fare was booked 10 months in advance so if I'd wanted to fly ADL-MEL in...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Thanks; I've actually already suggested that back to them after they tried to close the case by saying it's Bestjet's problem......

Hi Ari Thank you for getting in touch; will send you a private message with the details for both cases Best regards Iain

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Good point, but already done - VA updated my status credits to reflect the original J-class ticket but no additional Velocity points were supplied; apparently the points for a flexi economy ticket (VA flight number + Gold status bonus) on the revised ADL-MEL trip are marginally more than the...

Wilson parking - double-charging onto credit card (pre-booking AND on entry)

An update - to be fair to Wilson Parking, they asked for my credit card statements and then refunded the duplicate payments to my credit card within a couple of days. Whilst the fact that it happened repeatedly was (and remains) a worry, their recovery of my specific situation has been exemplary.

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Yes, it was ticketed on Etihad. At this point, I'd normally probably agree with you about it being a short leg and just shrug my shoulders, but the fact that Etihad took 7 days to deliver my luggage and have so far taken over a month to transfer the compensation for that (despite the amount of...

Advice please - Etihad refusing compensation for involuntary downgrade

Over Christmas, I flew in business on Etihad from Adelaide to Heathrow and back. The route for the outbound journey was ADL-MEL-AUH-LHR and the ticket was purchased through Bestjet. My originally-booked ADL-MEL leg on Virgin Australia was at 18:00-ish on an EY codeshare flight number but the...

Wilson parking - double-charging onto credit card (pre-booking AND on entry)

I used a physical credit card - the same one I paid with during the online booking, and which I had ticked during the booking process as being the card I would be using as ID on entry. On that basis, and given that I'd followed their instructions (including compliance with the time-windows for...

Wilson parking - double-charging onto credit card (pre-booking AND on entry)

Just a quick heads-up for folks on here - I have used Wilson Parking's Book A Bay three times in the last couple of weeks. I needed to park in Adelaide CBD and they're the most convenient car park for my work, plus I get a few Velocity points into the bargain. In all three cases, I booked the...
