Fairer & Simpler Enhanced QFF Optus Plans effective 12 April 2024

Been with Amaysim for a while now and their roaming plans are amazing value. No issues with them at all despite the low pricing, easy e-SIM activation and straight forward app (unlike Telstra which is a disaster with these things) and I’ve used their roaming in plenty of places including...

Hyatt Regency Perth to close after 36 years

And also save on the cost for the baaaadly needed renovations which is the crux here I think. 1723013419 And to be honest- this hotel was rather amazing at its core. Last time I stayed there just a few weeks ago I thought “Imagine what you could do with this place! It could easily be a Grand...

Hyatt Regency Perth to close after 36 years

Oh gosh, is that sad to see those pictures of the former Hyatt with nothing at all done to at least pretend a renovation had happened. Looks like they couldn’t even get Accor to slap a new name on it. Really sad.

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Property: Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong, China Tier: Globalist Booked: Standard King room Received: Rather small King room on a mid level floor, apparently the water views count as an “upgrade” but I can’t imagine how there could be anything worse tbh We are usually big fans of the...

Article: The Worst Ways to Use Frequent Flyer Points

In Economy, I am sure you’re talking. Because in J (which is where it really counts in my opinion), European award seats are actually amongst the best use for Qantas points in my experience, especially if you have to connect. Case in point: Just did a lovely BER-HEL-CDG yesterday on Qantas...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Property: Me and All hotel Kiel, Germany Tier: Globalist Booked: Standard room Received: Still small but best room in the house After it was announced just a few weeks ago that this former budget subsidiary of Lindner Hotels had now been fully purchased by Hyatt and is meant to be rolled out...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Oh sorry, of course I meant to say Grand Hyatt. We used to only have excellent stays here in the past as well, even more disappointing that this time was a real mess. I ended up complaining at the front desk and got a bottle of free (proper French) champagne as an apology which was a nice...

Article: The Worst Ways to Use Frequent Flyer Points

My initial response to the main question of this article would have been “Toaster” or “Webber grill” but turns out I would have been wrong as I’ve never thought about “negative” redemption value. Never stop learning something new on here… ;)

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Property: Grand Hyatt Berlin, Germany Tier: Globalist Booked: Standard King Received: Standard King, high floor. €30 voucher to make up for the lack of suite upgrades And speaking of air conditioning, here we go again: We used to really love this property, one of our favourite Hyatts anywhere...

Hyatt Regency Perth to close after 36 years

So sad, we loved this hotel though it got really old over the years. Management had promised a big refurb several times which never came so I suspected that they must have stingy owners. Will probably get re-branded without any refurbishment as some Accor hotel which is what usually happens...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Yes, it was the former. And complaints about air conditioning seem to be responded to in one or two ways in Germany (and most of Europe in general): A. Complete shoulder shrug and pretend that it all runs fine (this is how the Dusseldorf Hyatt but also the one in Berlin treat it) or, worse even...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Property: Hyatt Regency Dusseldorf, Germany Tier: Globalist Booked: Standard King Received: Very nice corner King room with great views Stayed here just earlier this week, maybe our 3rd or 4th stay at this property. Overall, really nice hotel still with excellent service at reception and...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Oh Oh I know. But almost every single Hyatt Place I’ve ever stayed in as a Globalst has given me the best room in the house or even a suite, if the property has such a thing. In my experience, Hyatt Places are often really humble and delighted to ha e a Globalist staying with them, more so than...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Yes, it’s the same on Flightradar. Almost every other airline you can tell which your incoming aircraft will be but not with Qantas. Gosh- VA often has days of future flights listed in advance. Which gives a nerdy and always slightly anxious (German blood, you know, the Angst…) travelers like...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Much better than the lounge knowing? Flightradar24. Qantas is a bit tricky because they tend to swap their dozens of old 737s randomly but Virgin and most overseas airlines are super easy with this. Just check where the incoming aircraft is coming from (if needs be, on the days before, same...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

You know- as long as there’s at least a seeded option too, then I’m quite happy. The so-called “foccacia“ I’ve found to be reliably awful (always cooked too long and hard on the sides). Admittedly, a minor complaint. Many more other things to fix first.
