    New 3 class 747 layout - QF7/8/15/16/107/108

Zone A is more private but it is a long way from anything - not only when exiting but also the service started from the back and worked towards us so was fairly slow (although the FA's were very good). The single seat in row 5 looked very good but suffers from being in the main cabin. I think...

    New 3 class 747 layout - QF7/8/15/16/107/108

New 3 class 747 layout - QF8 Imagine my surprise when I was handed my boarding pass for QF8 to find that instead of relaxing in an old first class seat (4A) I was in 1B - hang on I thought, there isn't a 1B on the seat map. Then the penny dropped - we're on a newly refurbished plane. I...

Where do you keep your passport?

I can rattle off my passport numbers and expiry dates (both Aus and UK) without needing to look at them because I use them so much. My wife on the other hand has no idea about her passport but can rattle off her credit card number without needing to look at it.;)

Best and worst experiences in Y class

Best Y flight that sticks in my memory was many years ago when I was heading to Australia (from the UK) for a few months backpacking. Thai airways flight and the leg into Sydney was almost empty (I think there were about half a dozen of us in the back section - all in our 20's). After the food...

Where do you keep your passport?

I don't think I'm daring or foolish - it's just that I prefer to generally travel the world with a view that 99.99% of the people that I'll encounter won't do me any harm and if someone does mug me or hold me up then, at the end of the day, if I've lost my passport, money and credit cards well...

Where do you keep your passport?

Either in the inside pocket of my suit jacket (to be hung up by the FA) or the outside pocket of my briefcase. It's usual home is the inside pocket of my briefcase.

    Perth the worst Airport??

Can't see the problem myself. At the domestic terminal it doesn't take more than about ten minutes from stepping out of the taxi to sitting down in the lounge. Arrivals is pretty quick (with carry on only) and I don't often have to wait for a taxi (at least not as often as at other Australian...

    Platinum One... worth it??

I had a similar experience - made a late decision to spend New Year in Brisbane and the P1 team released 5 classic award seats for us (flying from Perth). Not sure if this is a P1 benefit or if it would still work for a platinum. Also were able to accomodate some late changes on the return legs...

    Air Canada Vs Qantas

I've done SYD - YVR a few times in J with Air Canada. Good flights - herringbone configuration - I remember thinking it was a bit wider than the CX ones. Good flight, good service and the big bonus of avoiding LAX

    Double Dipping AA and QFF

Not sure whether it counts as a double dip but during the Qantas grounding my PER - LAX flights were cancelled and I flew with Malaysia (PER-KUL-LAX). I got an original routing credit from Qantas plus the points from Malaysia.

    Premium Economy. Why?

I think this is the bit that I don't get about PE - I see the cost of the seat to be almost solely related to the amount of space that you get and I couldn't really care less about the food and wine. In Y I get very little space in Y+ I get fractionally more space at more than twice the price...

I hate it when reality interrupts my fantasies ;)

    Underwhelming experience

I love McDonalds french fries - if only the airlines would serve them they'd win plenty of business from me :D (certainly beats the Hungry Jacks version)

    Underwhelming experience

Sorry - should have clarified this a little more - couln't provide me with a meal that I would have eaten (if I'd been hungry). I was sitting at the back of J both times and there was only 1 out of the 3 or 4 choices left by the time it got to me (this happened on the Perth KL leg and twice on...

    Premium Economy. Why?

"Personally if someone tried to sell me on Y+ as an acceptable class of travel for business travel (int'l medim to long haul) I would be finding another employer or airline" Agreed - I tried Y+ a couple of years ago (SIN-LHR) and thought it was rubbish - overpriced and the seat is barely an...

Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

I thought that complimentary Epiqure memberships didn't qualify for the free bottle (I read that in the T's and C's I think - after my bottle didn't arrive)

    Underwhelming experience

I must say that I always enjoy reading about other peoples experiences with Qantas (somehow the bad experiences are always a bit more interesting than the good ;)). I'm based in Perth and tend to travel Y domestically (unless setting off to the US), Y for short international (SE Asia) and J...

    Free flight for those disrupted.

Just got an email from Qantas with details of how to book the free flight. If I had any IT skills I'd paste a copy of it for all - I'm sure someone else will be able to . I went through the booking process and it seems fairly straightforward - follow the links to the booking engine and...

Platinum One: QF cabin crew and ground staff not aware of status codes

I'm aware of the new Platinum one level (being one :D) but this is the first time I've seen "Chairmans One" referred to - is this a Chairmans lounge member who actually flies a lot?
