    LHR Arrivals Lounge

I don’t think it’s quite like the taxi analogy - my understanding is that a specific driver is allocated to you, it’s just that s/he won’t be holding a sign with your name on it. Hence I always use the method recommended by KPC and send Carey and email to advise the driver that I won’t need the...

    Perth and other WA restaurants

Madalenas in South Freo is excellent. A bit more bar than restaurant but great seafood and a fantastic wine list. Also has been nominated in Gourmet Traveller as one of the top new restaurants in Australia. You can’t book so get there early to secure a table. https://www.madalenasbar.com.au/

QF Seat Selection - Not Working?

I’ve had exactly the same issue for some flights to the US next week - eventually I just contacted Qantas and they were able to allocate seats for me. They couldn’t see why it had happened from their end. I tried various way including the mobile app, full website and a couple of different browsers.

Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Oh no - I can confirm that my wife sat in 23A  but also that she had nothing to do with seat allocation - she simply saw her assigned seat change from 24D (I think - front row of economy) to 23A when she was on her way to Heathrow. We'd used my points to request an upgrade to J that hadn't...

Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

My wife (WP) got the same upgrade on the same flight - only notified a couple of hours before departure though.

    EK/QF/BA online check in

Hi - just wondering if I'm missing something here. I'm flying PER - DXB - DUB - LHR at the moment (typing this from DXB). The PER to DUB flights are QF codeshares on EK metal, whilst the DUB - LHR is BA flight number and metal, all one ticket. When I checked in at PER they were only able to...

    What is a shadow ? (Qantas )

I think the most irritating aspect of this is that, when the mythical blocks/impediments are removed, the remaining seats are, quite naturally, taken from the front first, where the highest status passengers usualy reside. Hence higher status passengers get a seat partner and lower status...

Priority economy seat purchase for WP/WP1

I think it’s the word ‘priority’ that I don’t quite get. It reads to me like they’re saying ‘you get priority to buy a seat that doesn’t exist’ rather than what they mean which is ‘we’ll let you buy a seat that will only exist when we throw someone else off the flight’.

Priority economy seat purchase for WP/WP1

I was speaking to reservations about another matter and asked about this. I was told that, essentially, Qantas would let you buy a seat on a full flight and some unfortunate person would get bumped off. I still don’t quite see how the wording from the website matches that reality. In my case a...

Priority economy seat purchase for WP/WP1

Has anyone used this benefit or knows how it works? One leg of a trip that I’m looking at is sold out in economy - does this benefit give me the ability to buy a seat on this flight? If so do I need to call Qantas or can I do it via the website?

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Personally i would prefer being able to send an email to the SST and let them sort it out. This is what I was hoping they’d gone back to.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Not true - in the early days of P1 I used to always go through the SST for award seat requests. Then it changed to having to go through premium reservations. Then the info from GoldCanyon was that he/she was able to go via the SST - which I’ve just found that I can’t do

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Well. I just tried my first email request - and got a quick reply along the lines of “contact the premium reservations team”. Seems like that route is only open to some P1’s and it’s back to the telephone for this one.

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I can also confirm this - have done it many times as a WP1

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Is this a recent change? I used to email the SST but then, maybe a couple of years ago was told by the SST that I had to phone up the reservations people. Personally I much preferred being able to email the SST.

    QF 7 questions

I think you’re referring to the 747 configuration here, whereas QF7 is an A380. Personally I tend to pick window seats nowadays (13 K yesterday on QF7) as the extra storage and shelf space is very convenient, no one steps over you and it’s fairly easy to step over the aisle passenger without...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

J to F op up on QF2 last Wednesday - no message from the P1 team on boarding pass so I’m presuming this was a genuine op up and being P1 put me towards the front of the queue

First / Business award availability - London flights

QF released some seats in J for me on QF9 (PER - LHR) flying out early April next year (I requested three different dates and they all came back approved). This was at about 350 days out as a WP1. However the return flights are proving trickier with QF being unwilling to release seats on QF10 or...

    Perth terminal 1 Qantas Lounge

I walked past the QF lounge on Tuesday evening (on my way to the EK lounge for the 22:20 flight) and I’m pretty sure there were people in it. This was about 9:30pm
