I’ve had exactly the same issue for some flights to the US next week - eventually I just contacted Qantas and they were able to allocate seats for me. They couldn’t see why it had happened from their end. I tried various way including the mobile app, full website and a couple of different browsers.

I think it’s the word ‘priority’ that I don’t quite get. It reads to me like they’re saying ‘you get priority to buy a seat that doesn’t exist’ rather than what they mean which is ‘we’ll let you buy a seat that will only exist when we throw someone else off the flight’.

Has anyone used this benefit or knows how it works? One leg of a trip that I’m looking at is sold out in economy - does this benefit give me the ability to buy a seat on this flight? If so do I need to call Qantas or can I do it via the website?

Personally i would prefer being able to send an email to the SST and let them sort it out. This is what I was hoping they’d gone back to.

Not true - in the early days of P1 I used to always go through the SST for award seat requests. Then it changed to having to go through premium reservations. Then the info from GoldCanyon was that he/she was able to go via the SST - which I’ve just found that I can’t do

Well. I just tried my first email request - and got a quick reply along the lines of “contact the premium reservations team”. Seems like that route is only open to some P1’s and it’s back to the telephone for this one.

I can also confirm this - have done it many times as a WP1

Is this a recent change? I used to email the SST but then, maybe a couple of years ago was told by the SST that I had to phone up the reservations people. Personally I much preferred being able to email the SST.
