I had the unfortunate experience of having the falafel bagel a week ago, I had one bite was the driest most flavorless thing. PER and BNE J lounge have done much better varieties lately with tuna and smoked salmon respectively and tasted great.
All aircraft go tech (which I’m guessing is the issue) even new ones but when there no spare aircraft to be found it’s not ideal - I can’t think of other major carriers that have such little slack in the fleet
Indeed I’d imagine that’s the case with most dual nationals particularly if that’s their place or birth / where she grew up, also anyone would have significant trepidation leaving behind family and friends in a war zone - not being able to say when or even if she’ll see them again.
Seems a bit ridiculous that QF gets involved with this sort of work, particularly as they’ll only fly from Cyprus - cynical but seems all for publicity / photo op in SYD. All other nations seem to be using ACMI charters or military aircraft, any other nation getting their flag carrier involved?
That’s very true I don’t disagree - I’m sure lots of people have been complacent and up until 2 weeks ago the security situation in Lebanon wasn’t particularly unusual, but in the last two weeks it’s clearly deteriorated significantly and 1/4 of the population are now displaced with nowhere to...
When this was originally published on the QF news room it was announced as operating from Beirut via Larnaca - it has since been updated to be Larnaca only.
QFs insurance likely wouldn’t cover flying into BEY and may be too high risk for the crew.
The government is chartering separate flights...
Seems in line with what was being offered - QF only.
I’ve cancelled the booking now and made a cash booking on VA out of OOL which had lots more flight options at better prices than JQ
Without doubt, however I’d question how many are retiring to Lebanon for the “high life”.
Good luck trying to withdraw cash in Lebanon since the liquidity crisis.
Let’s not forgot the gov also chartered QF to evacuate Australians out of TLV.
I would have thought RAAF A330s would be better suited to these type of missions though - not sure why they don’t get used in this capacity
Check in for Thailand flights should be from the same area as NZ, but unlikely they’ll keep check on open between flights. JQ can be fussy about accepting early bag drop I wouldn’t like to say whether it will be accepted earlier than 3 hours
