Speaking of PC sweet spots, the new DRW SIN routr is primed for it. I think you can get away with MEL - BNE-DRW-SIN but the timings don't work out as great. Just regular MEL - DRW - SIN would be a solid earner granted you ditched an a330 and MEL F lounge for an A220.

I do think they can probably build and renovate something with the heritage building to connect the two (and possible add some more gates if needed). Although it'd be awkward to serve as QF lounge space given the distance away from the rest of their flights. Perhaps maybe AMEX or Priority Pass?

Yeh but they can at least have the metro running and possibly rustle up more buses in preparation. It wouldve been asbolutely brutal this weekend with no metro, multiple A league games and Pearl Jam on.

I'm fully aware and use it extensively myself, but it is hardly ideal nor seamless. The space in between can be turned into something a lot more streamlined and useable rather than having to use the station connection.

I don't expect airside, but hopefully they can do something proper in the bulldozed carpark in between.

IIRC OW code shared flights on non OW operators (aka QR code on "VA" service) will not have the same lounge access.

So it becomes a question, why was it in there in the first place? We probably won't know the answer to that and can only speculate but regardless this has definitely put in a dampener on their application from all parties interested, be it the public, ACCC, VA's existing partners etc.
