    Retirement Planning & Experiences

Actually I believe commercial pilots do not have a compulsory retirement age. I had a small part to play in how CASA got around this. In 1993 I attended the Phyisicians conference in Hobart which was at the Wrest Point casino but as I was a lifetime gold in the initial Sheraton scheme I stayed...

    General Medical issues thread

Actually very high chance with most people walking around that have many blood tests will never have a discussion re the Anion Gap as usually it is "normal". Here is a discussion of it. And note it has CATMUDPILES which we learnt doing Respiratory Medicine...

    Retirement Planning & Experiences

Well I certainly wasn't ready for retirement the first time. Always had a plan to retire at 60 and go travelling. I actually retired a month before my 60th birthday. Three weeks later I got an email that Mt.Isa was wanting a Physician to start working in 3 days and to stay over Christmas and New...

    AFF Member Stock Discussion

On some chat boards a suggestion that CBA are working on an AI initiative. Personally can't see that being world shattering. They could of course add to the bottom line by AI replacing humans. but then a few old fogies like me will take their business elsewhere.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

You can have more than 2. I got my second when I began working again after my first retirement. the third came about from a crafty accountant as my income was irregular doing locums and i had a 5 month break leading up to 30/6. Less then for the tax man when I has another 7 years of part time...

Article: Virgin Australia Finally Refreshes Its Lounge Wines

My only VA lounge visit was in Sydney mid October. The Riddle was the cabernet merlot blend not the shiraz and the SB was from Hardys so it appears they were starting the change back then.

Hobart in talks with SQ and CX for direct flights

And I'm in talks with the Lottery office to have my numbers come up in Powerball. I don't think the Tasmanian government has way more chance than I in getting a successful outcome of our conversations.

    Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond

I might just see. I spent 7 years at Diamond when HH was my main program and always requalified on nights and points as well as stays. Though I did leave for the way I got treated and they haven't inspired me with their treatment when retaining my measly Silver status.

Velocity points… am I missing something?

Using either Velocity or QFF I find J awards from Australia to Asia hard except for SQ via velocity from BNE,PER or DRW to SIN. However you can get good availability on Velocity especially from Asia. So for September next year I got through QFF a JQ award BNE-BKK in fake J. But from there to...

    The view from my "office"

Tonight’s office. The Power Boat club Urangan. Dragon Boat training outside. Really nice food. Shared a plate of tender calamari and the shared plate of pork ribs with BBQ sauce. The ribs were the best we have had. Fall off the bone and tasty. Better than any we had in the USA.

    The view from my "office"

Today we headed north to Hervey Bay where I have had a unit in the Mantra for over 20 years. Contracts have been exchanged so I can look forward to more SKI trips. This will be our last visit. Of course seeing I won’t be driving north as often they last month opened the Gympie bypass. What an...
