Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I think you’ll find in my quote I said “slightly more” complicated - which it is … inherently … compared to a single owner. My main point was I can’t see why a QR stake so small would lead to major changes at VA.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Agree. To be honest I can’t see how Bain offloading 20% results in massive changes for VA other than a slightly more complicated share registry. Any commercial opportunities that are likely are possible now, irrespective of ownership - unless QR is holding out for more favourable terms that it...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

I think it will be a stopover. Either way, I don’t think a OWA will allow 3 goes at an airport irrespective of how it’s treated. I think (c) is unlikely. I don’t think the 1x stopover and 2x transfers in a city are coughulative. EDIT: @Mr H says it can be done.

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

I’ve had to use gotogate before when the GOL Airways website refused to finalise the booking process without a Brazilian ID number. Similar issues in the past with Aerolineas Argentina. Unfortunately OTAs are sometimes unavoidable. I had no issues with gotogate because nothing changed, but...

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

I know its a week or so old, but I love this headline… 🤣 Let me fix it for The Aus: Interest in Rex assets Lack of market interest in VA pushes back Virgin IPO

The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Hi all I don’t have massive travel plans this membership year so i’m planning the current favourite AKL run to keep my WP. What price should I be aiming for if purchased during a sale (i have time and can plan)? Currently best i can find is $1,800 … does it get cheaper? m

    New Amex statement credits

The offers used to be for useful merchants, now i feel its mostly junk. Every now and then a Qantas or hotel offer to use, but mostly low quality wine merchants, shoes and stores/restaurants i’ve never heard of.

    New Amex statement credits

Keep in mind the “savings” shown on the amex website are artificially inflated by savings you paid for in your annual fee (dining benefits, amazon prime, amex travel benefit). My saving total looks good until i strip those out. I’m about $400 in savings for the year.

Multi-seat pricing - is it ethical?

Yeah I agree, although there will be a challenge with respect to fare rules and voluntary changes when the higher priced fares have different fare rules to the cheaper fares. But with ‘new distribution capability’ in the GDS, there’s no need for the archaic “fare buckets” anymore IMHO.

Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

But QF hasn’t given us 7 days. I already have a new ticket whether I agree or not. I get what you’re saying, and if QF had refunded the money and said if you want a new J ticket for the same price you have 7 days to contact us, then I’d agree. I guess my argument is a bit like when QF makes...

Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

Yeah I agree the original ticket doesn’t stand. But the new J ticket, with J fare rules is essentially a one sided transaction set up by QF with the money already paid for a different ticket. The new “reply in 7 days” appears to be an attempt to add some new T&Cs after they’ve already created...

Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

Not sure that is in any way enforceable. You purchased an F class fare that was incorrect. QF won’t honor it. You can reject its offer at anytime before you board the plane.

    BA advance seat selection removed

Selecting the seats via RJ has proved to be good advice. Seats which dropped off every day have now stuck for two days once selected via RJ.

Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

To be honest in my view the T&Cs make it clear, fare revisions will change the price. The pay later option has never offered the ability to save sale fares etc. so is of limited value for anything other than buying rack-rate fares.

    BA advance seat selection removed

Hmmm perhaps not. How many leading zeros are needed? I mean it recognises my status and entitlement to free seat selection. I get an confirmation email from BA. At first the seats stuck for a few months. Now they drop out every second day it seems.

    BA advance seat selection removed

Thanks. That’s informative. I’ll just add, been booted from the seats again. Other seats are still marked as occupied in expertflyer … feeling a bit singled out at this point.
